Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Set Photos Reveal First Look at Jason Momoa’s Lobo

DC Studios is stepping into a new phase with James Gunn’s Superman ready for theaters soon, and they’re already busy on their next highly anticipated project – “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow“. This upcoming film aims to adapt the popular Tom King and Bilquis Evely story for the big screen. However, there will be a few alterations. One significant change is the introduction of Jason Momoa as Lobo. Recently, new set photos have given us our first glimpse of Momoa in full Lobo costume, and his Spacehog is also present. One noticeable aspect is Momoa’s appearance and styling that strongly resembles the iconic character Lobo from the comics. His worn-out leather jacket, large pendant, white facial makeup, long hair, and black eye circles all exude 100% Lobo vibe, and online fans appear to be quite satisfied with this portrayal.

In a shift from its original form, Lobo’s Spacehog now resembles a conventional motorcycle. This bike appears to have endured numerous fights, giving it a worn-out look. Despite this transformation, it remains undeniably a motorcycle, quite unlike the Spacehog from the comics. The comic book version of the Spacehog doesn’t possess wheels and features a skull design at the front, with two powerful engines situated at the rear.

Just like Gunn’s work, not everything might be exactly as it appears. It could start out as a terrestrial design, but who knows, it might morph into a spacecraft at any moment. It may simply be a more earthbound design, but considering DC’s penchant for comic-book accuracy in its visuals, we’ll have to wait and see the film itself for a clear picture.

As a film enthusiast, I’ve long harbored dreams of embodying the ruthless and charismatic Lobo. Though my journey led me to the thrilling role of Aquaman in Zack Snyder’s DC universe, I’m now excitedly stepping into the boots of the cosmic bounty hunter I’ve always admired, in Supergirl.

In simpler terms, Momoa shared with Fandango that he was once an avid comic collector, but he doesn’t collect as much these days. However, Lobo has always been his most preferred character, and if given the chance, he would love to portray him. As he put it, “It’s a perfect role. It’s the ideal part. If they ask me to play it? Absolutely, yes. That’s a certainty. So there’s no need to worry about that.

Gunn recalls the moment when Momoa contacted him regarding the prospect of portraying Lobo, and this conversation took place immediately following the first announcement about Gunn and Peter Safran taking charge at DC Studios.

As soon as I heard the news, the first message I received was from Jason, exclaiming “LOBO BABY!!!” in all caps and a flurry of exclamation points. To be honest, his enthusiasm was infectious, and I immediately thought, “This could work out great!” So, from the get-go, including Lobo in our plans was a no-brainer for me, and having him play Aquaman before was never an issue at all.
