James Gunn has recently made a big announcement about his eagerly awaited DC Studios movie, “Superman”. He shared on social media that the entire production is now finished, along with a picture from behind-the-scenes showing him with the Daily Planet cast members. This means the first film in the new DC Universe is all set and ready for its summer premiere, generating even more excitement among fans. Gunn thanked his team and expressed his excitement for viewers to witness the debut of the new Superman, a crucial step forward for both the director and the future of the DCU.
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! I’ve just wrapped up the last visual effect shot for #Superman, and it’s now officially complete! A big thank you to all my team members who made this journey a pleasure. For everyone else, mark your calendars – we’ll be unveiling the movie on July 11!
Just a couple of days ago, I spilled some beans about Superman. The runtime for this epic adventure will be approximately 2 hours and 9 minutes, including credits/post-credits scenes. So, don’t be in a hurry to leave your seats once the lights go up!
We’ve completed and added our final visual effect shot in #Superman, which means we’re all done! A big thank you to everyone who helped make this happen – it’s been a pleasure working with you. Can’t wait for everyone else to see the movie on July 11. Enjoy!

Although details about the post-credit scenes are kept secret, their presence offers intriguing opportunities for hinting at future DC Universe movies. Since Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is next in line for the DCU, it’s quite likely that Milly Alcock might appear as Kara Zor-El. Other possibilities include Nathan Fillion’s character, Guy Gardner, laying groundwork for the Lanterns series, or even a return by Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr., who links the Creature Commandos, Superman, and the upcoming second season of Peacemaker.
Everything We Know About James Gunn’s Superman
In this new take on the DC Universe, it’s Superman, portrayed by David Corenswet, who will be the foundation. This isn’t an origin story but rather a glimpse into a Superman audiences are already familiar with. Clark Kent is a young reporter at the Daily Planet, where he interacts with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) has a long-standing animosity towards Superman, although they haven’t met yet.
James Gunn has referenced Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s groundbreaking work All-Star Superman as a significant influence. This version of Superman embodies “truth, justice, and a better tomorrow,” with a strong emphasis on compassion in a world that might find such ideals outdated. The storyline will delve into Clark’s struggle to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing in Smallville, Kansas, under the watchful eyes of his adoptive parents, Jonathan Kent (Pruitt Taylor Vince) and Martha Kent (Neva Howell).
In the universe of Superman, there are already established classic DC characters. Among those confirmed to make an appearance are Edi Gathegi portraying Mister Terrific (Michael Holt), Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho (Rex Mason). On the antagonistic side, María Gabriela de Faría will play Angela Spica, also known as The Engineer, a member of The Authority who possesses powers involving liquid metal nanotechnology. Lastly, Sean Gunn has been cast as the cunning businessman Maxwell Lord, whose relationships with other characters are yet to be revealed.
DC Studios’ Superman is scheduled to soar into theaters on July 11th.
