View Urgent ForecastThe newly debuted DC Universe by DC Studios has started with the premiere of the animated show, “Creature Commandos” in its lineup. However, it’s the upcoming franchise flagship movie slated for summer 2024 that is generating significant attention. The first grand production from DC Studios is set to hit theaters in 2025, introducing a fresh take on Superman. James Gunn, co-running DC Studios with Peter Safran, is penning and directing this new Superman film, offering fans their initial glimpse at footage from the eagerly awaited production. The movie will grace our screens on July 11, 2025.
Warner Bros. and DC Studios have finally revealed the debut trailer for the highly anticipated Superman film, a project that’s been generating excitement for quite some time now. Feel free to take a look at the trailer by clicking on the video at the top of this page!
For the first time since some images from Gunn and DC, fans have a glimpse of the revamped Superman design for the emerging DC Universe. Previously portrayed by Henry Cavill, the character is now being played by David Corenswet, an actor recognized for his significant supporting roles in “Pearl” and “Twisters”.
Last year, when the casting process for Superman began, there was a great deal of focus on it. In the end, Corenswet secured the highly sought-after part of Clark Kent, giving the character a fresh visage. Meanwhile, Rachel Brosnahan, who won an Emmy for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, was chosen to play Lois Lane in the film. Nicholas Hoult, who came close to bagging the Bruce Wayne role in The Batman, landed a part in Superman as Lex Luthor, the hero’s most well-known adversary.
I’m thrilled to be part of the team highlighting the stellar cast behind Superman. Aside from me, there’s Skyler Gisondo playing Clark’s best buddy, Jimmy Olsen; Wendell Pierce taking on the role of Perry White from The Daily Planet; Milly Alcock portraying Kara Zor-El, better known as Supergirl; Isabela Merced bringing Kendra Saunders to life, or Hawkgirl; Nathan Fillion starring as Guy Gardner; Sean Gunn embodying Maxwell Lord; Edi Gathegi stepping into the shoes of Michael Holt, aka Mister Terrific; Maria Gabriela de Faria making Angela Spica come alive, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampan playing Eve Teschmacher; Anthony Carrigan transforming as Rex Mason, aka Metamorphosis; Frank Grillo taking on Rick Flag Sr.; Neva Howell becoming Martha Kent; and Pruitt Taylor Vince assuming the role of Jonathan Kent.
It’s clear that many of these characters are set to play significant roles in expanding the DC Universe. Grillo’s Flag has already made an appearance in the franchise, as he is a main character in the animated TV show “Creature Commandos”. Fillion’s Guy Gardner is quite popular among DC Comic readers, second only to Hal Jordan and John Stewart when it comes to Green Lanterns. Both characters will feature in HBO’s upcoming series “Lanterns”, with Kyle Chandler portraying Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre playing John Stewart.
The upcoming DC Universe film, titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” has Milly Alcock set to star as the lead character, with its release scheduled for 2026 – approximately one year following the premiere of Superman’s own movie.
