Bossa Games, the team responsible for creating “Surgeon Simulator,” has shared that they will be conducting job cuts. This decision was communicated via a LinkedIn post, with the reasons given as a significant shift in the dynamics of the video game industry by one of the studio’s co-founders and co-CEOs, Henrique Olifiers.
According to Olifiers’ statement, this change is not just a passing trend; it represents a fundamental shift in the gaming industry, altering the methods and types of teams responsible for game production. Two years from now, the gaming industry won’t resemble the one we know today.
According to recent announcements, the game studio is now concentrating on the debut of their upcoming project, “Lost Skies.” Although no release date has been set for the survival crafting game, it’s been indicated that Bossa Games will undergo a restructuring process following the launch. This restructuring includes splitting the company into smaller teams tasked with creating smaller games. Consequently, a certain number of employees will unfortunately lose their jobs as part of this reorganization.
He announced that due to necessary adjustments, our efforts will be primarily directed towards finalizing and launching the game “Lost Skies,” ensuring a successful release and continuous evolution for its players. After “Lost Skies” has been launched and is running smoothly with live operations, we plan to restructure into smaller teams, each working independently on fresh concepts for new games, aiming to deliver them to our players as quickly as possible.
We regretfully find ourselves in a position where we must bid farewell to exceptional team members who have been invaluable contributors to our gaming journey. They are among the finest talents in the industry, and letting them go is exceedingly hard. Ideally, we would have managed to steer through these challenging times without the need for downsizing our teams, but our efforts in that regard have fallen short.
Acclaimed for its humorous games such as “Surgeon Simulator” and “I Am Fish”, Bossa Studios is now developing “Lost Skies” – an expansive open-world survival crafting game that invites players to soar through the skies, discovering the world using their own custom-made flying vehicles. In this adventure, players will encounter ancient ruins, unravel mysteries by solving puzzles, and uncover technology remnants from previous civilizations.
A notable aspect of the game Lost Skies is the ability for players to design and customize their own unique skyships. Beyond aesthetic alterations, players must also manage the practical aspects such as durability, maneuverability, and even weaponry for engaging in aerial battles among ships.
In addition to piloting their airships, players will have the freedom to traverse the world independently by employing a grappling hook and a personal hang glider and wingsuit. As they journey, players will also discover an Island Creator tool that enables them to design custom islands. Once created, these islands can be shared with other players via Steam Workshop.
The full specifications for the game “Lost Skies” have been disclosed via its Steam listing. Notably, this game doesn’t demand highly advanced hardware to function, as both the minimum and suggested specs list components that are over three generations old. At present, a demo for “Lost Skies” can be downloaded through Steam.
