Surprise Borderlands 3 Update Lets Players Instantly Create a Max Level Character

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that the Borderlands movie’s initial reception has left me somewhat disheartened. The 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is a stark reminder of how Hollywood often misses the mark when adapting video games to the big screen. However, as someone who’s spent countless hours looting and shooting in the Borderlands universe, I can’t help but feel a glimmer of hope.

The long-awaited movie adaptation of “Borderlands” has been released, and unfortunately, the reviews are disappointing so far. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film initially received a 0% rating – the lowest possible score. As more reviews have trickled in, the percentage has risen slightly, but it’s evident that critics aren’t fond of the movie. While it remains to be seen if audiences will develop a soft spot for it, the current outlook for “Borderlands” is not promising. In spite of this, the developers at Gearbox are trying to generate as much excitement as they can, and they just dropped an unexpected update for “Borderlands 3” to achieve that goal. The update isn’t extensive, but it does introduce several user-friendly enhancements meant to make playing again enjoyable.

The key improvement in this update is that victorious players who’ve maxed out a character can swiftly generate another fully leveled character directly from the main menu. This offers a convenient way to resume play and experiment with a fresh character, as you won’t have to replay the entire campaign. Instead, you’ll be able to dive straight into Borderlands 3’s post-game activities. Additionally, the developers have streamlined the auto-sell feature for easier management of unwanted gear. Lastly, Gearbox has expanded font options for the Steam Deck version, enhancing readability of text on the handheld device.

Here are the details of the August 8th update for Borderlands 3, which can be played on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This weekend, the Borderlands movie hits theaters.

Surprise Borderlands 3 Update Lets Players Instantly Create a Max Level Character

Today at 12:00 PM Pacific Time, we’ll roll out an update for Borderlands 3 that will be available across all platforms.

The update contains these quality-of-life features:

  • Players are now able to create a Max Level Character from the main menu once they have beaten the game and have at least one max level character!
  • Added an option to auto-sell gear based on rarity from the main menu:
  • This auto-sell feature automatically sells gear below your set rarity when picked up. Cosmetics will not auto-sell.
  • A note for Mission Gear: Once a mission has ended, any mission reward items offered as a pickup could be automatically sold if auto-sell is enabled. Before completing a mission, the auto-sell option can be set to “None” to avoid possibly losing a mission reward.
  • On Steam Deck: Increased font size of text in the Options Menu.
