21 years ago, in 2004, the much-loved All-Star season of Survivor, often considered one of its finest, hit our screens. Since then, this season has become a legend for many reasons, but perhaps the most memorable moment was the budding romance between Boston Rob and Amber Mariano. Now, they’re reflecting on those days and sharing how their encounter on the show contributed to their long-lasting marriage.
As Amber discussed the remarkable status of her and Rob’s survival in the game of “Survivor” and their significant wedding anniversary, she revealed an “insight” to Access on what has kept them together all these years.
Over the past twenty years, our four wonderful daughters have brought immense joy to our lives, strengthening our family bond. From shared experiences to creating cherished memories, we’ve grown closer together as a unit, constantly finding ourselves laughing and enjoying each moment. Reflecting on these past two decades, it feels like just yesterday when we first started this incredible journey, but I can confidently say that the fun, laughter, and love have only solidified our family ties even more. Here’s to many more years of creating memories together!

Reflecting on it now, it feels like just yesterday, but here we are, two decades later. It’s hard to believe that I was barely five when Amber and Rob first graced our screens together. Over the years, their relationship journey has been a fascinating part of my life, keeping me updated with their milestones along the way.
They really serve as an ideal model for relationships due to their longevity and the apparent joy they derive from it. As Rob mentioned, their bond was forged amidst circumstances where they had to prioritize survival, which seems to have given them a unique outlook on life together.
Each day brings joy, and that’s the beginning of our story. We found ourselves in a challenging situation, isolated on an island. From there, things became progressively simpler and more enjoyable, and we’ve been sailing smoothly ever since.

On CBS, you can catch Survivor live every Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. If streaming is more convenient for you, consider subscribing to Paramount+.
They had a significant challenge starting their relationship, since they initially met in a setting where concerns about basic necessities like shelter and water overshadowed the everyday trials of contemporary life, which are less life-threatening. Navigating survival and reality TV added to the complexity. Consequently, when they resumed normal life, as Rob put it, “everything” became “better and simpler.
Now, they’ve been together for two decades, and they’re still going strong.
In addition to being a father of four children, Rob has also made a name for himself as a prominent figure in reality competition shows, with his latest season on “The Traitors” (broadcasted in 2025 and available to stream with a Peacock subscription) being a significant career milestone. Following this and his stint on “Deal or No Deal Island,” he expressed the need for a break. Interestingly, he believes that Amber would excel on “Deal or No Deal Island,” and I, for one, am eager to see her return to the competition.
In an ideal situation, I’d love for them both to participate in Survivor 50, joined by other past players. But considering the odds, it might be a stretch. Yet, one can always hope! Survivor holds a unique significance for them as a couple, and perhaps, under the right circumstances, they may return to that island. For now, I’m simply thrilled that Rob and Amber are still together after 20 years!
