As a seasoned Stalker fan who’s navigated the radioactive wastelands of Chernobyl more times than I care to remember, this news about the upcoming updates for the original trilogy feels like Christmas came early!

Shocking new analysis predicts massive volatility ahead. Markets brace for impact!
View Urgent ForecastIt appears I’ve convinced myself that this is a special Christmas treat just for me from the studio, as GSC Game World has announced they will be updating the original Stalker series – not Stalker 2, but rather Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat.
In a document titled “The Everything App,” GSC revealed that they will update the classic Stalker games with modern enhancements for consoles in 2025. While console gamers may be excited, us dedicated PC gamers don’t pay much attention to that, but what caught our interest is their promise to also upgrade the original Stalker games on PC.
In simpler terms, it’s likely that the console versions’ modern features will be transferred to the PC version, which might include higher resolution cutscenes, improved visuals and performance, and controller support. Some traditional Stalker fans might find this controversial, but personally, I enjoy playing games on both my TV and Steam Deck too much to worry about it.
Additionally, it seems likely that veteran Stalkers are earning Steam achievements, a fact that may hold little significance for those with a clear mind, but could be quite important to individuals like myself who might be considered ‘cracked’.
However, I must clarify that my statement is simply speculation on my part. GSC has been elusive in detailing exactly what the updates will entail. What they have provided more clarity about is the release timeline for their Stalker 2 content roadmap, which they plan to reveal “at the start of 2025.
As a diehard gamer, I can’t help but feel excited about the upcoming details on the “two extra expansions and any future DLC” that are part of Stalker 2’s season pass. However, what truly has me on the edge of my seat is learning about the fixes and improvements GSC plans to roll out in future patches. The game’s A-Life system, which seemed lifeless until yesterday’s massive 1.1 update, has shown signs of revival, and I’m confident that GSC has a lot more up their sleeves to bring this game up to its full potential.
