Switch 2 My Nintendo Store lottery applications surpass 2.2 million in Japan

Approximately 2.2 million individuals from Japan have applied for the chance to pre-order the Switch 2 through the My Nintendo Store lottery, as stated by Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, on Twitter.

Furukawa stated that the figure surpassed our predictions by a large margin and even goes beyond the quantity of Nintendo Switch 2 units we can supply via My Nintendo Store on June 5. However, we regret to inform you that we anticipate a substantial number of customers will not be selected when the lottery winners are revealed tomorrow, April 24.

If you’re not chosen in the initial lottery drawing, you’ll be placed in the subsequent lottery without needing additional steps. However, it’s important to note that even with a second draw, Nintendo might not be able to fulfill all applications due to limited availability.

Furukawa stated that Nintendo aims to bolster its manufacturing infrastructure to cater to this unforeseen surge in demand.

It’s important to mention that the My Nintendo Store is merely one of several retailers available. Starting on April 24th, pre-orders and lottery sales for the Switch 2 will be open simultaneously across various Japanese stores throughout the country as well.
