So far, Nintendo has kept quiet about the sales numbers of the Switch 2, released on June 5th. Nevertheless, according to a report from The Game Business, citing NielsenIQ, this console saw the largest UK launch in Nintendo’s records.
The Nintendo console we’re discussing is currently the fastest-moving on the market, surpassing both the Nintendo 3DS and the original Switch by more than double. Although NielsenIQ didn’t share exact sales figures, it did mention that around 113,000 units of the 3DS were sold, while in the same region, the Switch also moved approximately 113,000 units.
As a dedicated Nintendo fan, I must admit that when stacked against the giants like Sony’s PS5 and PS4, as well as Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S, the Nintendo Switch 2 finds itself in fourth place. Interestingly, if we consider sales revenue, it still trails behind the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, too. However, it’s crucial to remember that this data is based on a weekly sales period (from Sunday to Saturday), and the Switch 2 has only been available for two days at the time of comparison.
In contrast, while the PlayStation 5 only offered a two-day sales window in the UK, both the Xbox Series X/S and the PS4 were accessible for five and seven days respectively. Keep an eye out for future updates regarding sale durations in the upcoming months.
