The long-awaited remaster of “System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Edition” is finally arriving on June 26th, offering the classic FPS/RPG to contemporary platforms with added features such as Achievements, mods, Ultra widescreen support, and more. Interestingly, Nightdive Studios has unveiled an unexpected feature in a recent trailer: Co-operative gameplay. For a sneak peek, take a look at the video below.
Teams of up to four players can explore the Von Braun cooperatively, confronting its terrors as a group. Occasionally, one might unintentionally set off five robots, leading a comrade to bravely sacrifice themselves and neutralize them.
In a world without bounds, it might sound strange to have cooperation in a solo-focused game such as this one. However, to my surprise, it fits remarkably well. The cherry on top? Cross-platform multiplayer functionality!
The “System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Edition” is set to release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Keep an eye out for further updates and demonstrations of cooperative gameplay before the launch date.
