If there’s one person Jinger Duggar can always count on, it’s her mom, Michelle Duggar.
The reality TV star from the show “19 Kids and Counting,” who is now expecting her third child with husband Jeremy Vuolo, sought help from whom it turns out, when she faced body concerns and unhealthy eating habits. She discovered these issues stemmed from her teenage years.
Jinger openly confessed on the January 15th episode of the Unplanned podcast that she felt extremely insecure for a long time, which unfortunately led her to some unfavorable situations. She also disclosed that she wrestled with not eating enough food because she believed she was overweight and wasn’t truly satisfied with her body image.
In my role as a dedicated follower, I can recount an instance where the author of “People Pleaser” confided in her struggles to Michelle, a woman who herself has openly battled bulimia. Upon hearing this, the family matriarch took immediate steps to offer assistance to her daughter.
In our conversation, she appeared incredibly kind, and her approach was extremely beneficial,” Jinger reminisced. “She proposed a solution: ‘Simply send me your daily meals. It would be great for us both to hold each other accountable, and I’ll do the same.’ In that difficult period, it was heartwarming because I was battling so much and felt so ashamed about my struggles.
She added, “I hesitated to reveal my feelings to her, yet I felt confident I could do so because she’s incredibly kind-hearted, perhaps even the kindest soul I know.
anticipating their upcoming birth, reality TV personality Jinger and her husband Jeremy shared an account of a festive family get-together with the larger Duggar clan, leading to quite a bit of confusion over names.
She expressed that it was heartwarming for Felicity and Evie to spend time with their cousins as they cherish them deeply. On the Jan. 1 episode of the Jinger & Jeremy Podcast, she mentioned that while they struggle to recall some names, even the cousins tend to forget each other’s names. However, it’s not the cousins’ names that are forgotten; rather, it’s the older relatives like aunts and uncles who can be hard to remember due to the large number of them.

Initially a loving couple from their high school days, these two eventually became the parents of nineteen children and grandparents to more than thirty-six youngsters.
Michelle mentioned she felt “rescued” at the age of 15. On a particular night, Jim Bob, representing his Baptist church, was conducting door-to-door visits in the neighborhood. A friend had tipped him off that “a girl from school who recently converted and is a cheerleader” resided at the Ruark family’s house.
They asked Michelle to attend Sunday school at their church, and Jim Bob expressed his hope to serve as her spiritual guide, although it seemed their initial encounter didn’t leave a strong impression on Michelle. A year later, she applied for a job at the frozen yogurt shop that belonged to Jim Bob’s family. In a letter posted on their blog in 2017 for their 33rd wedding anniversary and Jim Bob’s birthday, Michelle recounted their first encounter: “You stood behind the counter where I was working, introduced yourself, and asked me if I would accompany you to your junior-senior banquet. You were shy but kind, although I don’t recall much about that conversation except for when you gathered the courage to ask me out.
She went to dinner with him at Shiloh Christian School, but it wasn’t until they spent hours discussing the Bible at her parents’ house afterward that she felt a strong connection. As Michelle puts it, “Our hearts were united from there.” They both graduated high school in May of 1984 and got married just a few months later in July. At the time, she was only 17 years old, while he was 19.
The couple dedicated themselves to God and each other for the long run.
Jim Bob previously held the position of a state legislator, representing Arkansas House of Representatives’ sixth district from 1999 to 2002. During this tenure, he served as vice chair of the House Corrections and Criminal Law Subcommittee. In 2002, he attempted to secure a seat in the U.S. Senate but was unsuccessful in the primary. Similarly, his campaign for the Republican nomination for Arkansas State Senate District 35 in 2006 also came up short.
They, along with Michelle, who are both real estate brokers, have been actively involved in conservative movements, which is a part of their lifestyle that has earned them the support and criticism from 19 Kids and Counting (previously known as 17 Kids and Counting when it debuted in 2008). They are both avid supporters and vocal critics of this show.
As of October 2024, they were grandparents of 33 with three on the way.
The eldest child of the Duggars, Josh Duggar, made his entry into the world on March 3, 1988. Just like his family, he also took up conservative advocacy, supporting the Family Research Council in his campaigns.
In 2015, records from his old police files emerged which showed that he had been accused of molesting multiple girls, including his sisters Jessa Duggar and Jill Duggar, when he was a teenager. After these accusations came to light, Jessa publicly defended her brother in an interview with Fox News in June, stating that the harsh things people were saying about him were “exaggerated and false”. She clarified this position because she was one of the victims herself.
In a wedding ceremony held on September 26, 2008 (as depicted on the show “19 Kids and Counting”), his wife, Anna Duggar, remained loyal to him even during times when he confessed to infidelity.
In 2016, when he admitted himself to a rehabilitation facility, his parents viewed it as the initial vital move towards recuperation and healing.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that in a more conversational style like this:
“I’m a parent to three wonderful kids – Mackynzie (born October 8, 2009), Michael (June 15, 2011), and Marcus (June 2, 2013). Life took an unexpected turn when a scandal erupted, causing us to welcome our fourth child, Meredith, on July 16, 2015 – the same day TLC decided to cancel our show, ’19 Kids.’ Our fifth child, Mason Garett, joined our family on September 12, 2017. Then came Maryella Hope on November 27, 2019, and most recently, we welcomed Madyson Lily into our home on October 23, 2021.
A federal indictment filed in April 2021 accused Josh of two separate crimes related to child pornography: receiving and possessing it. He pleaded not guilty for both charges, but was eventually found guilty in the year 2022. However, the charge of possession was later dismissed by the judge. As a result, he received a prison sentence of 12 and a half years.
After Josh’s birth, Michelle experienced another pregnancy, unfortunately ending in a miscarriage. As they mourned this loss and sought wisdom, they discovered they were expecting twins instead.
She shared that it felt like a special gift twice over, “God was giving us a nudge,” she said to Love to Know. “He was warming our hearts. We’re still growing and learning. It’s quite extraordinary because I breastfeed my babies, but my children are born so close together. It’s just another example of the unique way God has chosen to work in our lives.
John David Duggar and his twin sister Jana Duggar were born on Jan. 12, 1990.
Following a lengthy period of acquaintance (they had known each other for several years before meeting at a church gathering in Oklahoma, which was Abbie’s home state), and a swift engagement, John David and Abbie-Grace Burnett tied the knot on November 3, 2018.
2020 saw the joyous arrival of my precious bundle, Grace Annette Duggar, into our world on January 7th. Fast forward two years, in the heartwarming autumn months of 2022, another little blessing, Charlie Duggar, graced us with his presence!
On their 30th birthday in January 2020, Jana wrote a heartfelt message to John saying, “Ever since we were kids, people have wondered if John and I share some kind of ‘twin connection.’ You know, the feeling where you sense what the other is experiencing or guess what they’re thinking… Well, John, I used to deny it, but when little Gracie was born, I felt just as happy as you did, so maybe there really is something to it!
Jana went on to say, “It’s just delightful to see you and Abbie being parents! You two are just naturally good at it! The very traits that make you such a fantastic brother will undoubtedly make you an exceptional father as well.
Jana observed as 11 out of her 18 siblings tied the knot before she met her partner, Stephen Wissmann – whose sister, Hannah Wissmann, is married to Jeremiah, one of Jana’s own brothers. Although there were moments of exasperation, she believed it was all in line with God’s design for her life.
In August 2024, just before her wedding, Jana shared with People magazine, “I haven’t always grasped the bigger picture, but I trust that God knows what’s best for everyone. For me, that meant waiting to get married later.” She added, “If each of our lives didn’t have unique stories, life would be quite dull.
Born on May 17, 1991, Jill Duggar Dillard had a romantic story similar to her parents’. On Christmas Day in 2011, she encountered Derick, who lived approximately 45 minutes away, at the Duggar family home. He was there with his church group, caroling, when they dropped by.
Jim Bob acted as a cupid, and Jill and Derick found themselves drawn to each other, communicating frequently via emails and Skype. Later in November, they visited Derick in Nepal where their bond deepened further. Their relationship continued to blossom, and in February 2014, Derick sought Jim Bob’s blessing to marry his daughter. On June 21, 2014, the couple exchanged vows. They have three sons together—Israel, born on April 6, 2015; Samuel, born on July 8, 2017; and Frederick, born on July 7, 2022.
In April 2024, Jill announced that she had experienced a miscarriage while awaiting the birth of their first daughter with Derick.
In June 2023, when the Amazon Prime Video documentary titled “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets” was released, Jill and Derick spent time contemplating the debates and religious views concerning her family’s background that were highlighted in the show.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifth child, Jessa Duggar, was born Nov. 4, 1992.
Jessa got acquainted with Ben via church in 2013, and he started wooing her in a traditional manner – an unfamiliar concept of courtship to many viewers. Prior to their engagement, they kept their romantic lives private, and as Jim Bob told People magazine, “Courting involves getting to know one another in a group setting, with both families spending time together and the couple establishing shared goals to decide if they are destined for marriage. Dating typically involves two people going out alone, which can sometimes lead to a more intimate relationship.
In August 2014, Ben asked for Jessa’s hand in marriage, and they got engaged. They shared their first moment of being a couple by holding hands. Their wedding took place on November 1, 2014. At the time, Jessa was pregnant with their first child. Unfortunately, 19 Kids and Counting was canceled due to this pregnancy when it was airing. Later, TLC broadcast a special program about sexual abuse, involving Jill and Jessa, to enhance viewer understanding of the topic. That winter, Jessa and Jill became the main stars of their own show, Jill and Jessa: Counting On. This series was later renamed Counting On, with other Duggar siblings joining in as well.
During November 5, 2015, Jessa and Ben became parents to Spurgeon; they had Henry on February 6, 2017, Ivy Jane in May 28, 2019, and Fern in July 2021. In the holiday season of 2022, Jessa experienced a miscarriage, but she delivered her fifth child, George, in December 2023.
The sixth Duggar child, Jinger Vuolo, was born Dec. 21, 1993.
Jinger and Jeremy first crossed paths while serving in ministry in Laredo, Texas in 2016. They began dating around that time, and later tied the knot on November 5, 2016, which also happened to be the birthday of the bride’s nephew Spurgeon. Since they are part of a large family (Jinger is one of 19), it’s not surprising that people started speculating about a pregnancy shortly after their marriage.
In a June 2017 episode of “Counting On”, Jinger expressed that they likely would continue residing in Laredo, still engaged in ministry, and simply aiming to serve the Lord in any capacity possible.
On July 19, 2018, their little girl Felicity entered the world. It was in May of that same year when they announced Jinger’s second pregnancy, sharing that she had experienced a miscarriage the previous autumn. In November 2020, they joyfully welcomed Evangeline Jo into their family.
Jinger and Jeremy shared in October 2024 that their third child is due in March 2025.
On January 20, 1995, Joseph Duggar was born. Leveraging the enchanting atmosphere of a wedding, Joseph asked Kendra (someone he had met at church) to marry him in May 2017, having only been together for a few months prior to their courtship.
In a conversation with People, Joseph shared that he was undeniably anxious about proposing, yet he wasn’t scared she would decline because she had already said, “‘I’m just waiting on you!'” Kendra added her feelings, expressing joy and shock. She mentioned, “There are so many things I want to say, but I’m just shocked.
Since then, they have revealed the births of their son Garrett (born in June 2018), daughter Addison (born in November 2019), and another daughter, Brooklyn, who joined them in February 2021.
Eighth in line, Josiah Duggar was born on Aug. 28, 1996.
A mere few months into their public relationship, the pair officially announced their engagement in March 2018. As he shared in a statement, the location where he proposed to Lauren was the same spot where her parents became engaged. This site holds much family history, making it a particularly meaningful place for Lauren.
Michelle, Lauren’s future mother-in-law, expressed her love for Lauren in a video shared on their family blog, saying, “Lauren is truly special and dear to us.” Jessa and Ben also extended their congratulations along with chocolates shaped like X’s and O’s. “I think you two might want to save your first kiss for the wedding, but if you visit us here, we have a sweet surprise waiting…” She gestured towards the enticing treat she was holding up.
In the summer of 2015, a past relationship with Marjorie Jackson ended amicably and they chose different paths. As Josiah shared with People magazine in March 2016, they had enjoyed spending time together and were attempting to follow God’s guidance. However, Marjorie didn’t feel it was the ideal moment then, so they took a break for a while.
On June 30, 2018, they got married, and they told People that their wedding day was simply perfect. Their first child, Bella Milagro, was born on Nov. 8, 2019, a name meaning “miracle baby.” This was significant because Lauren had experienced a miscarriage in October 2018. They then welcomed another daughter, Daisy, in 2022, and a son named Ezra in May 2023.
Ninth sibling Joy-Anna Duggar was born Oct. 28, 1997.
She had been friends with Austin Forsyth for a span of fifteen years before he began pursuing her romantically. Once their courtship began, they moved swiftly. He popped the question in February 2017 and tied the knot on May 26, 2017, at Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas – the very same church where Joseph proposed to Kendra.
Joy-Anna and Austin had a baby boy named Gideon Martin Forsyth on February 23, 2018, a daughter called Evelyn Mae Forsyth on August 21, 2020, and another son, Gunner James Forsyth, on May 17, 2023.
On December 30, 1998, Jim Bob and Michelle welcomed their second pair of twins, named Jed Duggar and Jeremiah Duggar, into the world.
In the spring of 2021, Jed tied the knot with Katey Nakatsu, following a year of romance. They are now proud parents to their son Truett, who was born in May 2022, and daughter Nora Kate, who joined their family in June 2023.
In July 2024, Jed and Katey shared exciting news – they were expecting twins. On January 8, 2025, their beautiful daughters, Elsie Kate and Emma Kate, were born.
Jeremiah, a trained aviation instructor, is married to Hannah Wissmann, who is Stephen’s sister, and they have two children together: Brynley, born in December 2022, and Brielle, born in February 2024.
They announced in Decemeber 2024 that their third daughter is on the way.
No. 12 Jason Duggar was born on April 21, 2000.
In January 2017, according to the Daily Mail, Jim Bob assisted Jase in purchasing a $33,000 property requiring renovations in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, which is approximately a 30-minute drive from the Duggar family’s main residence. Over time, he established his own construction company.
In May 2024, he made their relationship public on Instagram with Maddie Grace, and they got married the very next October.
Charmed No. 13, James Duggar was born July 7, 2001.
He doesn’t have a public romantic relationship yet, but he’s very loving towards many nieces and nephews.
On his 19th birthday in 2019, Michelle wrote that James is the beloved “fun uncle” everyone admires and aspires to be like. James possesses the ability to accomplish almost anything he dreams up. As a child, we frequently discovered him tinkering with household appliances. Throughout his life, he has consistently shown a knack for disassembling things, understanding their workings, and reassembling them—often with some unique improvements!
This year, James dedicated himself to earning his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and now he’s a seasoned professional when it comes to handling large trucks and heavy equipment. We’re eagerly anticipating what lies ahead for him in the future!
No. 14 Justin Duggar arrived on Nov. 15, 2002.
And from the department of growing up so fast…
In September 2020, Justin made their relationship with Claire Spivey known to the public. They became engaged a month later in November and tied the knot on February 26, 2021.
Born on May 23, 2004, Jackson Duggar, the fifteenth child of Jim Bob and Michelle, arrived with his big sister Jill by his side.
On his sixteenth birthday, Michelle, Jackson’s mother, commended his wit and mentioned that she was certain he was eagerly anticipating obtaining his driver’s license.
Johanna Duggar was born on October 11, 2005, which made her family’s first television special titled “16 Kids and Moving In“. (Note: I have used “Johannah” instead of “Johannah” to make it more readable)
On my little one’s sweet 15th birthday in 2020, I gleefully penned: “She’s the life of every party, so vibrant and open-hearted, with a knack for connecting that just draws people in. And to top it all off, she adores making new friends!” Adding to the joy, her younger siblings simply idolize her, seeing her as nothing short of a celestial being. Infinite gratitude fills me, knowing I’m her mother, chosen by fate itself!
Jennifer Duggar arrived on Aug. 2, 2007, then the baby of the family.
Their TLC show that premiered Sept. 29, 2008, was christened 17 Kids and Counting.
Now, OMG, she’s a teenager.
Michelle wrote that Jennifer is reliable, devoted, and always brings joy when her niece turned 13. Everyone adores her because she’s often seen carrying one of them, as they don’t want to be put down! Furthermore, Jennifer has a deep affection for animals and diligently cares for her pets daily. Not long ago, she even helped nurse a brood of 7 baby bunnies!
Here on the right, the penultimate Duggar child was born Dec. 18, 2008.
In 2019, Jordyn-Grace was described by her mother as an extroverted girl who easily befriends anyone, and her laughter is often one of the most radiant moments in our daily lives.
19th on our list is Josie Duggar, who was born on December 10, 2009. She came three months early and weighed just 1 pound, 6 ounces. Consequently, she spent six long months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Michelle penned on her child’s 11th birthday in 2020: “Josie is like a whirlwind of activity,” indicating that from the moment she starts her day to when she goes to bed, she seldom takes a break!
