Recently, viewers who enjoyed ITV’s McDonald & Dodds were disappointed to learn that the show has been terminated following its fourth season, bringing an end to the comforting crime drama.
The fourth season concluded with a suspenseful twist as McDonald agreed to marry her partner, suggesting upcoming nuptials. Regrettably, it appears we won’t learn about the ensuing events.
Currently, actress Tala Gouveia expressed her appreciation to the audience during her appearance at the TopMob Covers Event in 2025.
She started by expressing gratitude for your attention. “People have been approaching us on the streets and expressing their appreciation – it’s not limited to a specific group, I believe we’ve managed to create a show that appeals to various age groups and families from across the nation. And it’s not just our country, it continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
She declared it had been an enjoyable race, and her co-star, Jason Watkins, concurred, expressing gratitude to fans for their unwavering support of the series.
He expressed: “It was fantastic, it performed exceptionally well, both domestically and internationally. On a whim, I was engaging in activities at the Tower of London, and it was filled with visitors from various parts of the globe, including Venezuela, Paraguay, even Dallas. As a result, we’re sorry to see it depart.
However, it’s clear that many episodes we produced continue to resonate and bring joy to audiences. We also formed a genuine family in the West Country during this project. So, we’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to its success.
Although the crime series has concluded on one network, might there still be opportunities for it to return on another platform instead?
In response to the query, Gouveia stated: “Well, one can never tell. Other broadcasters might be interested in airing it. It seems to hinge on the budgets available, as it’s a show that attracts viewers. Of course, there’s a possibility it could find another platform. I believe we wouldn’t object to giving it another try.
Watkins added: “Perhaps it’s because we had a strong bond both in front of and behind the camera that our on-screen relationship felt authentic.
