Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game delayed to July 29

The game “Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game,” developed by Weta Workshop and published by Private Division, has been moved from its initial release date in March to July 29th. You can look forward to playing it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, or PC through Steam.

Here is the full message from Weta Workshop on the delay:

Dear Fellow Hobbits,

As a gamer immersed in the world of Middle Earth, I can tell you that crafting a heartwarming Hobbit feast is no rush job, and neither is Tales of the Shire. We’re putting in extra time to guarantee an equally delightful experience for every Hobbit, regardless of the platform they choose. Mark your calendars, fellow gamers, as we’ll be setting off on this grand adventure together on July 29, 2025!

Aim is to create an atmosphere in this game reminiscent of a comforting embrace from Middle-earth, ensuring that players everywhere can settle in comfortably within The Shire. Details as small as hairstyles and as delightful as the most fluffy cakes will all be carefully crafted for authenticity.

Thank you for your understanding as we eagerly anticipate sharing The Shire’s charm with you this summer! In the interim, prepare your table, shine your cutlery, and gear up for a banquet worthy of a hobbit!

Looking forward to welcoming you to Bywater.

—From the folks at Weta Workshop Game Studio
