2025 has seen an impressive run of PS5 games, with many top-notch titles gracing our screens over the past six months or so. In fact, several of them have been strong candidates for the prestigious “Game of the Year” award.
With June already behind us, it’s high time we begin considering the remaining months of the year. This isn’t only due to the postponement of Grand Theft Auto 6, which has created a chance for all publishers worldwide to secure their release dates.
Here we’ve assembled the distinguished Push Square editorial team to share their top PS5 game picks for the remainder of the year. We invite you to join in by sharing your own choices – feel free to vote in our poll and leave your thoughts in the comment section below this article.

Hell Is Us
The game “Hell Is Us” piqued my interest with its unconventional style. Without a conventional map or quest log, you must actively observe your surroundings and listen to NPCs for guidance. Many open-world games dictate your path, which often leads players to overlook the intricate details of a world. I’m excited that “Hell Is Us” may encourage player interaction, making the game world of Hadea even more captivating by immersing us in its environment.
Arc Raiders
I’ve eagerly anticipated playing ARC Raiders for years, and finally, we have a confirmed release date. I’ve invested more than 30 hours in the recent closed beta test, and I couldn’t get enough of it. It’s incredibly cinematic, immersive, and just downright funny with friends. My group has been missing it since then, and we can hardly wait until October 30th.
Cronos: The New Dawn
Following the impressive Silent Hill 2 remake, I’m keeping hopeful that Bloober Team can create something extraordinary independently with Cronos: The New Dawn. This intriguing sci-fi horror game seems tailor-made for me with stunning visuals, grotesque foe designs, and what appears to be an enigmatic and captivating storyline. I do have some lingering doubts, but I’m genuinely excited about this upcoming release.

Mafia: The Old Country
I’m excited about Mafia: The Old Country because it seems to offer immersive stories, structured gameplay, and continues the Mafia series. Unlike many games today that emphasize vast open worlds, Hangar 13 is prioritizing the core gameplay experience by reducing extraneous exploration. Essentially, they’re focusing on what truly makes a difference in this type of title. I can’t wait to play through a series of connected missions and then finish the game within approximately 15 hours – hopefully earning a Platinum Trophy at the end. Great!
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
One fantastic stealth game from yesteryears is making a comeback with utmost accuracy, and I’m thrilled to re-experience the 1960s Soviet atmosphere of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on PS5 again. The Metal Gear Solid series holds a special place in my heart, but Snake Eater isn’t necessarily my top pick from the franchise. I can’t wait to re-evaluate it! With additional game modes returning and the possibility of Metal Gear Online, this remake is looking more promising by the day.
Silent Hill F
The relationship between Konami and us remains strong, as the survival horror genre maintains its momentum with the upcoming game, Silent Hill F. Frankly, I wouldn’t have predicted that the Silent Hill intellectual property would evolve into an annual franchise, but we seem to be heading in that direction with a unique twist on the series. This is the first time the series is set in Japan, which is quite different from what we’ve seen before. While it may not reach the same heights as the remarkable Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill F still has the promise of being something exceptional.

Ghost of Yotei
Among the best games from the PlayStation 4 era for me was Ghost of Tsushima, and I have high hopes that its sequel, Ghost of Yotei, will surpass it in every way. I am confident that Sucker Punch will excel at refining aspects such as a sophisticated combat system and an expansive, interactive open world. If they also incorporate some thoughtfully crafted narrative depth, there’s a good chance Ghost of Yotei could become my favorite PS5 game for 2023.
Sword of the Sea
Instead of immersing myself in lengthy 100-hour RPG adventures that I adore, there are times when I yearn for a game that focuses more on ambiance and sensation. Luckily, Sword of the Sea seems to embody this perfectly – it’s essentially a follow-up to the legendary Journey. I’m eagerly anticipating an engaging experience; a vibrant sand-surfing adventure that allows me to unwind and enjoy the journey itself.
Trails beyond the Horizon
With the debut of Trails beyond the Horizon in the west, Falcom’s RPG series will finally reach parity across regions. This game, by many accounts, is a pivotal addition to the franchise, setting up what looks to be the concluding acts of an epic tale. To be honest, I’m eagerly anticipating reconnecting with Van Arkride and his companions — there’s just something addictive about the Trails series and how it skillfully weaves its expansive cast of characters.

Ghost of Yotei
I’ve been a fan of Sucker Punch since the days of Sly Cooper, and even though the team has gone through significant changes, I believe they’ve never failed to deliver exceptional gameplay. Ghost of Tsushima was an amazing game to experience, with its visuals being particularly impressive. However, I feel it could have benefited from more activities to keep things engaging throughout its lengthy playtime. I hope this will be addressed in the sequel. Although some fans and critics might find its iterative nature a bit underwhelming, I’m eagerly awaiting another excellent game from them.
Mafia: The Old Country
I’ve always appreciated the unique way Mafia series tells its stories, and I feel that narrowing the open-world setting will enhance the narrative for this upcoming release. In today’s gaming landscape where ambitions often run high, I believe developer Hangar 13 deserves recognition for adjusting expectations and concentrating on their strengths. I’m optimistic that the end result will be a game worth playing.
Silent Hill F
I find the exhilarating action in Resident Evil to be enjoyable, but what truly resonates with me is the haunting psychological elements of Silent Hill. The upcoming installment promises to push the boundaries for the franchise, as the eerie Japanese horror atmosphere and stunning historical environmental art teased so far are nothing short of breathtaking. Additionally, I’ve only heard great things about Ryukishi07 from his visual novels, so I’m eagerly awaiting diving into his story once this game is released.

Lumines Arise
I find the Lumines series to rank among the top falling block puzzle games, and I was thrilled when a fresh installment debuted during Sony’s latest State of Play event. Tetris Effect’s fusion of music and striking visuals seems to complement Mizuguchi’s synesthetic puzzler exceptionally well. We haven’t seen much about Lumines Arise yet, but it already appears to be a perfect match. I wasn’t expecting this series to resurface, but I’m delighted that it’s returning, and it’s now one of my most eagerly awaited games for the year.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
As a fan who appreciates a good 2D action game, Art of Vengeance continues to captivate me more with each glimpse. It’s not just the eye-catching hand-drawn aesthetic that draws me in, but also the smooth movement and combat sequences that seem incredibly appealing. Developer Lizardcube has consistently demonstrated a knack for blending style with substance, and
Ghost of Yotei
With high anticipation, I’m certain that Ghost of Yotei is destined for greatness. Although there are minor concerns, I greatly appreciated its precursor, so I’m eagerly waiting for the sequel to further develop and offer exceptional open-world gameplay. The novel setting presents a captivating freshness, and I can hardly wait to uncover more about Atsu and her tale. Sucker Punch has consistently demonstrated remarkable skill in its creations, crafting games that are delightful to experience, which lends credence to my belief that this installment will be exceptionally robust. The upcoming Ghost of Yotei State of Play will undoubtedly reveal the game’s splendor, and I can hardly contain my excitement for that moment. However, I already sense that
