Taron Egerton’s ‘Kingsman’ Movies Dominate Hulu Streaming Chart

Two of the most extravagant action spy films from the past decade, both belonging to the franchise created by Matthew Vaughn, have taken the number one and two spots on Hulu’s streaming platform. Specifically, X-Men: First Class and its sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, are currently leading the platform in terms of viewership, demonstrating that these dynamic, visually appealing films continue to be beloved by fans even after their initial theater releases.

Under the direction of Vaughn, inspired by the comic books from Millar and Gibbons, “Kingsman: The Secret Service” made its cinematic debut, offering a witty, humorous salute to the James Bond legacy that Vaughn has often revisited. The story revolves around Eggsy (Taron Egerton), a street-wise Londoner who gets enlisted into a covert intelligence agency by the suave spy Harry Hart (Colin Firth). Meanwhile, the villainous billionaire Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) sets in motion a plan to reduce the world’s population. Packed with intense action sequences, uproarious fight scenes, and numerous satirical jabs at the spy and action genres, the movie quickly gained popularity, spawning a franchise in no time.

In 2017, I was part of the audience captivated by the sequel to “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.” This film took the original concept and amplified it, pushing boundaries in its outrageous plotline, rib-tickling humor, and an abundance of action that made it a formidable competitor against every espionage movie in terms of epic action sequences.

In this installment, the action transcends continents as Eggsy and the Kingsman team up with their counterparts from the States, the Statesman, who are powerfully portrayed by stars like Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, and Jeff Bridges. The delightfully deranged villain Poppy, played by Julianne Moore, enters the scene, while the film maintains its unique blend of high-octane action, side-splitting comedy, intense fight scenes, and a dash of the extraordinary, such as robotic dogs and an unexpected Elton John appearance.

‘Kingsman’ Is Kicking Ass on Hulu

It seems there’s been a significant increase in viewer curiosity towards Hulu. This is likely due to the fact that both Kingsman films have just been added to their content library. The first movie became available at the end of April, while its sequel was recently added within the past few days. A question on everyone’s mind now is whether this influx could potentially reignite discussions about a new film, Kingsman: The Blue Blood, which was allegedly shelved in late 2024, but may still be under consideration.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at how the Kingsman films continue to dominate Hulu’s movie chart, bouncing from one streaming platform to another without missing a beat. Regardless of their final destination, there’s always an eager audience waiting with bated breath for these action-comedy masterpieces.

Even Vaughn’s less celebrated spy film, Argylle, starring Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard, found new life on Prime Video despite a rocky start at the box office. Whether Matthew Vaughn will get another chance to revisit either of these beloved franchises remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: there’s still a passionate fanbase out there who can’t seem to get enough of the Kingsman universe. The latest streaming success is sure to catch someone’s attention, I have no doubt.
