Taskmaster winner announces new Channel 4 comedy Make That Movie

As a fan who has followed Sam Campbell’s comedy journey from his early roles to his recent triumphant win on Taskmaster, I couldn’t be more thrilled about his new role in Make That Movie! It’s like watching a garden-transforming show, but instead of roses and daisies, we get movie magic – something that has the potential to gross over a billion dollars at the box office!

In the upcoming Channel 4 sitcom, Sam Campbell, a past victor on “Taskmaster,” takes center stage. This comedy series follows the journey of an ambitious movie director who transforms ordinary folks’ concepts into big-screen realities.

In “Make That Movie”, Campbell’s role involves traveling across the nation in search of inspiring ideas from ordinary people. The goal is to transform these pitched ideas into finished films within just three days.

In this improvised comedy, Lara Ricote from Break Clause takes on the role of runner Jess, Aaron Chen known for Fisk appears as intimacy coordinator Sebastian, Helen Bauer from Am I Being Unreasonable? portrays sound engineer Pat, and David Hargreaves recognized from This Country plays cinematographer Winnie.

Campbell put it simply: “It’s similar to those makeover shows for gardens, but instead of flowers and shrubs, we’re enhancing the magical world of movies.”

To put it plainly, it’s important to acknowledge that no garden has ever earned more than a billion dollars at the movie theater.

During his latest stint on Greg Davies and Alex Horne’s Taskmaster, the Australian comedian managed to gather numerous new admirers. Amidst tough competition from Julian Clary, Lucy Beaumont, Susan Wokoma, and Sue Perkins, he successfully clinched the top position.

In the realm of my film enthusiast life, among my earlier on-screen appearances are Stath Lets Flats, Pls Like, and Bloods. The upcoming movie, Make That Movie, will be under the visionary direction of Joe Pelling – a collaborator I’ve worked with before, during our time together on Channel 4’s Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared.

Charlie Perkins, who leads comedy at Channel 4, stated: “Sam embodies the vibrancy, originality, and progressive spirit that Channel 4 comedy represents.”

“He has an undeniable, completely unique and enormous comedy brain, and is generous and tenacious in his artistry – the perfect figurehead for this new-era comedy gang-show. This is going to be fun.”

As a movie enthusiast, I’m eagerly anticipating the start of production for that upcoming film, which is set to begin shortly. Details about the cast and additional members joining the team will be revealed in the near future.

Make That Movie is coming soon to Channel 4.
