The creator of “Yellowstone” remains a formidable force in the franchise world, and his action-packed, often overlooked series is gaining significant popularity for him as a writer, producer, and director. Most recognized for his neo-noir Western series “Yellowstone” and its numerous spin-offs, Taylor Sheridan also developed the spy thriller show Lioness: Special Ops. Remarkably, this series is currently thriving on not one but two streaming platforms.
Launched by Taylor Sheridan, Special Ops: Lioness debuted in July 2023, featuring Academy Award-winning actress [Actress’s Name] playing Joe McNamara, the leader of the covert ops team Lioness within the CIA. Drawing inspiration from a genuine U.S. Military program, the show chronicles Joe’s efforts to recruit female operatives, known as “Lionesses,” and foil potential future attacks similar to 9/11… all while juggling her personal life with her role as an undercover agent.
In addition to Zoe Saldaña, the cast of Special Ops: Lioness includes Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, and James Jordan. Notably, esteemed actors Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman are also part of this series. Currently, Lioness is gaining popularity worldwide, ranking at number 5 on Paramount+ and occupying the ninth spot on Netflix’s top 10 list after its recent release in Australia, Canada, and other regions earlier this month.
What’s Going on With ‘Lioness’ Season 3?
In the debut season of the action series “Special Ops: Lioness“, opinions were split between critics and viewers, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting a score of 56% for critics and an impressive 75% for viewers. The critical consensus was that while Zoe Saldaña delivered lion-like energy, the Special Ops often felt unoriginal and lackluster. Despite this critique, the show’s creator, Sheridan, managed to secure a second season renewal, which premiered in October of the previous year. Fortunately, with the groundwork now laid, Season 2 of “Special Ops: Lioness” significantly outperformed its predecessor, garnering scores of 89% from critics and 71% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m eagerly waiting for an update on “Special Ops: Lioness” Season 3. While there’s no concrete news as of now, Showmax, the show’s streaming platform in South Africa, dropped a hint recently that seems to indicate Season 3 is indeed happening. In response to a fan’s question about the series’ future, Showmax said, “Soon, soon showmie, we’ll let you know.” It’s not rocket science to understand what that means!
However, with the recent budget cuts at Paramount, where the streaming platform is based, one might wonder if Taylor Sheridan is considering a move for his projects to another platform in the future.
