Taylor Swift’s show at Wembley Arena includes an unexpected EastEnders reference

As a lifelong Taylor Swift fan who grew up watching EastEnders and spent countless hours debating which of her albums best encapsulated my own tumultuous relationships, I can hardly contain my excitement over this unexpected collab. The fact that Kameron Saunders, the dancing sensation of her Reputation Stadium Tour, decided to shout out Peggy Mitchell during a performance at Wembley Stadium is nothing short of iconic. It’s as if Taylor has been reading my diary all these years!

On the memorable evening of Taylor Swift’s eighth and last performance at Wembley Stadium (August 20th), I, Kameron Saunders, surprised fans by slipping in a casual nod to EastEnders that left everyone in stitches.

During the tour, the dancer frequently captivates audiences and gains attention online by improvising unique lines while performing “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” The specifics of his performance vary based on the location of the tour stop.

On Tuesday, instead of his regular expression “Like, ever,” Saunders altered it to pay tribute to the British soap opera, EastEnders, by exclaiming “Get out of my pub!” as he received the microphone from Swift.

In a memorable moment, the character of Peggy Mitchell, played by the late Barbara Windsor, uttered this famous quote while serving as the proprietor of the Queen Victoria pub.

People swarmed to X (previously known as Twitter), to share their joy, one of them posting: “Taylor Swift and Eastenders – the two entities that shaped my upbringing.”

Another added: “Omg taylor swift eastenders collab!!”

Besides the unexpected EastEnders cameo, there was another twist in store during my last Wembley show – a secret I’d been saving up!

Towards the finale of her performance, the American pop sensation unexpectedly played a couple of tunes, one being the debut live version of “Florida.” During this number, Florence Welch, a renowned British vocalist, made an appearance onstage.

Later, Swift invited her close associate and frequent partner, Jack Antonoff, to perform a heartfelt acoustic duet of “Death by a Thousand Cuts” from 2019 and “Getaway Car” from 2017.

Additionally, another unexpected moment occurred as Swift sat down at the piano to sing “So Long, London” for the very first time in a live performance.

The track is thought to contain references to her ex-boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn.
