Brett Goldstein, who co-wrote and played Roy Kent in the popular Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, recently voiced his thoughts about the potential continuation of the hit soccer comedy. Initially planned for a three-season run, an unexpected fourth season of Ted Lasso was confirmed in March. The development of this upcoming season is ongoing, and Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted, has hinted that it will depict Ted going back to Kansas City to be with his family and coach a women’s soccer team. However, the fate of the show after season 4 remains unclear.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Brett Goldstein was questioned if he truly believed that Ted Lasso season 3 would be the last for the show. However, he wasn’t able to give a definitive answer. Instead, Goldstein offered some optimistic insights regarding the potential future of Ted Lasso.
In a heartfelt moment, it seemed everyone shed tears and embraced each other. To be truthful, as we clung to one another, many of us added, “We’ll return someday, won’t we?” I must admit, there was a strong sense that we might reunite again, but the reality is, I couldn’t predict it.
Later on, Kimmel inquired from Goldstein whether season 4 of Ted Lasso would mark the end of the series, to which Goldstein responded that, given its popularity, it could potentially go on indefinitely.
I believe that matter pertains to Apple, as the person speaking to me appears to have a weapon resembling a sniper rifle pointed at me. While we’d enjoy continuing indefinitely, I suspect there might be some constraints…
Goldstein’s remarks offer hope for the continuation of Ted Lasso after season 4. Although an official confirmation about season 5 is far off, his positive comments suggest that the series might have a prolonged lifespan if its popularity continues.
What Brett Goldstein’s Comments Mean For Ted Lasso Season 4 & Beyond
There’s Clearly Still Interest In Continuing The Show From The Creators & Stars Of Ted Lasso
As a devoted fan of Ted Lasso, I can attest that Brett Goldstein’s comments about the show carry significant weight because he is not only one of its principal actors but also a writer and executive story editor. This unique dual role places him squarely among the creative minds behind the series. Therefore, his expressed desire for Ted Lasso to continue could potentially be influential in keeping the show on the air, giving us an exclusive peek into the thoughts of those who shape this beloved production.
If Goldstein reflects the general sentiment among creators and stars of Ted Lasso towards the series, it appears that a fifth season might become a reality. The show continues to evoke strong feelings, suggesting it may maintain its high quality in future seasons, despite having initially been planned for just three. A crucial element of Ted Lasso’s success lies in its sincerity and heartfelt affection for kindness, and Goldstein’s remarks suggest that the writers have not yet exhausted this wellspring of emotion.
Our Take On Brett Goldstein’s Desire To Continue Ted Lasso “Forever”
More Ted Lasso Is Never A Bad Thing, But The Show Has To End On A High Note
Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing more of the beloved “Ted Lasso,” but it’s crucial for the show to handle its continuation thoughtfully. The final episode of any series is a pivotal one; it can either salvage the entire show or tarnish an otherwise brilliant series. The season 3 finale of “Ted Lasso” demonstrated excellently how to conclude a series effectively: it was the highest-rated episode of the series on IMDb.
Prolonging “Ted Lasso” beyond its fourth season could potentially tarnish its reputation as one of the finest and most acclaimed sports comedies in history. If the quality begins to wane post-season 4, but Apple still chooses to renew it due to its popularity, that would be quite unfortunate. This notion was hinted at by Goldstein during his interview, where he suggested that there might be a ceiling for the show. Despite my desire to see more of “Ted Lasso”, I simply hope the writers recognize when to call it quits and provide us with a finale as fulfilling as season 3’s.
