Ted Lasso Season 4 Might Be Happening

Ted Lasso Season 4 Might Be Happening

As a devoted Ted Lasso fan, I have been eagerly waiting for any news about the beloved show since its emotional farewell last year. The latest rumblings of a potential fourth season have sent my excitement levels soaring! If the stars align and the team gets the green light, I’m ready to don my AFC Richmond jersey once more and cheer on Ted, Rebecca, Roy, and the rest of the gang.

Following the conclusion of Ted Lasso on Apple TV+ last year after three successful seasons, viewers of the Emmy-winning sitcom were curious about whether the show would carry on in some form. Initially, the creators stated that they intended to wrap up the series after three seasons, but many fans thought the finale hinted at a possible spinoff. Over the past year, there have been numerous speculations about the show’s continuation. The latest news surfaced earlier this month when co-creator Bill Lawerence mentioned in an interview with Collider that the Ted Lasso team would be prepared to resume if called upon. More recently, a report from Deadline suggests that a fourth season could potentially be underway.

As per the latest updates, it appears that Warner Bros. Television has exercised their options for Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, who are prominent stars in the series “Ted Lasso”. Insiders have revealed to Deadline that these actors were secured under the guidance of the UK acting union Equity when signing their contracts. With Waddingham, Goldstein, and Swift now locked in, it’s expected that they will reach out to former “Ted Lasso” cast members who are part of SAG-AFTRA, whose options may have expired, in an attempt to renegotiate new deals. Among the potential returnees are Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt, and Juno Temple, who portrayed Ted Lasso, Coach Beard, and Keeley Jones respectively.

According to Deadline, if everything aligns correctly, filming for the fourth season might begin as early as 2025’s first quarter. Neither representatives from WBTV nor Apple TV+ have responded to comments on this matter.

What Have Ted Lasso Stars Said About Spinoffs?

In a Reddit AMA session earlier this year, Brendan Hunt – known for his dual roles as Coach Beard in Ted Lasso and co-creator of the show – shared thoughts on the prospect of a spinoff. (Source: Deadline)

We’re not sure. For now, we need some time off. All options remain on the table – even the possibility that we’ve finished. Until we’ve had a chance to relax and gather our thoughts, we won’t be able to say for certain.”

Lately, Nick Mohammed (known as Nate Shelley) discussed potential spinoffs with Deadline and shared his thoughts on what might come next for Nate’s character.

Muhammad responded negatively when asked about his thoughts on Nate’s future, expressing that while he does ponder it occasionally, the idea of a spinoff makes him apprehensive as he feels Nate’s story has already reached its conclusion. He believes there is no need for further exploration and would be content if things ended where they are now. When questioned about Nate potentially getting married and starting a family, Muhammad suggested that there might still be some unresolved issues to a certain extent, implying that Nate may require more sessions with Dr. Sharon [Sarah Niles].

Muhammad affirmed that indeed, the chapter is concluded for him. “Given that we were fully aware of its outcome and had read all the scripts, participated in numerous interviews, it felt like a foregone conclusion. After watching the entire series, one might find that it provides an abundance of resolution and emotional release, to the point where three seasons seem more than enough.”

He added, “Ted won’t return since he won’t repeat that mistake. He belongs with Melissa and Henry, where he feels content. There will always be room for character development, as they aren’t flawless. Ted may still have his struggles. However, the ending is incredibly satisfying. It would be a pity to abruptly end it like, ‘See you next year.’ Instead, one might wonder where we pick up from that point. If we decide to continue – who knows? – there will likely be a significant gap between them, particularly if we produce another series. But time will tell.”
