Teddi Mellencamp Reveals Brave New Look After Brain Surgery Recovery

Teddi Mellencamp is on the road to recovery.

After approximately three weeks following an emergency surgery to extract multiple brain tumors, I, as a former cast member of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” offered a peek into my post-operative experience. In this process, I also unveiled a captivating selfie, highlighting my freshly shorn scalp.

“Staples out,” Teddi captioned the March 1 Instagram post, “and ready for radiation.”

Over the ensuing days, a 43-year-old woman persistently recorded her feelings and struggles associated with her challenging health odyssey. Yet throughout this ordeal, she maintained a beacon of hope and positivity.

16 more days before returning home, she shared on her March 4 Instagram Story while crooning to Skylar Grey’s “Coming Home”. She also expressed gratitude to everyone who helped her reach this point, saying “Thank you to all my supporters and lifesavers.

Through this challenging voyage, she’s drawn upon a great deal of mental fortitude and the unwavering backing of her loved ones – even her former partner, Edwin Arroyave, and their children, Slate (12), Cruz (10), and Dove (5). Yet, it is not just her mental resilience that stands out; she’s also shown an awe-inspiring determination to regain her physical vitality and achieve her wellness aspirations.

It’s deeply emotional for her watching her body transform due to brain tumors and their related medication, which she shared on her Stories while exercising on the treadmill. As tears began to gather, she expressed her feelings by saying, ‘I’m just trying to remind myself how thankful I am that I can move my body once more.’

Following this period of persistent, troublesome headaches spanning over several weeks, the unexpected news of her condition was quite startling.

Yesterday, I had such intense pain that I needed to go to the hospital, as Teddi posted on Instagram on February 12th. After undergoing a CT scan and an MRI, doctors discovered several tumors in my brain, which they suspect have been growing for at least six months.

Recognizing that the initial phase following the triumph of the operation was merely the opening act, I steeled myself for the challenging battle that lay ahead.

She expressed her heartfelt thanks on Instagram, February 26, to the remarkable surgeons, doctors, and nurses whose skills made her surgery a triumph and her recovery period comfortable. She shared X-ray images of what seemed like substantial growths in her head. In open disclosure, more tumors were removed than anticipated: a total of four. Although this battle is far from over, she acknowledged that this round has been successfully completed.

In February 2025, an actress who starred on ‘Even Stevens’ revealed that she had been accidentally shot in the face during a trip to fire clay pigeons as part of her husband, Brendan Rooney’s birthday celebration.

In a post on Instagram, she shared that there was another person with us who recklessly fired their gun in the wrong direction, striking me in the face. Without hesitation, @thebrendanrooney stepped in, evaluated my injuries, and swiftly transported me to the hospital. I was wounded in five spots, one of which was just a narrow margin away from directly hitting my right eye.

The actress from “Kim Possible” went on to say, “Regrettably, a piece became stuck at the back of my eye, and it’s not safe to take out through surgery right now. My doctors will keep a close watch on me as I can see clearly for now.

She expressed her heartfelt gratitude for being alive, stating, “I hold my loved ones – my daughters, husband, family, and friends – so dearly. A moment came when I glimpsed my entire life, and let me tell you, seize every opportunity to embrace the people near you. Life, in a heartbeat, can take an unexpected turn.

Amy Schumer is grateful that the internet, despite not always being a positive space, provided her with answers during this instance. She recounted her experience on Call Her Daddy in January 2025, saying, “The internet really gave me a hard time after I did a lot of interviews, and I was like, ‘Everyone, take it easy.'” However, medical professionals chimed in the comments section, expressing concern about her appearance and suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. Amy humorously remarked, “I’m being trolled by doctors?”

After these doctors pointed out potential symptoms such as high cortisol levels or steroid injections, Amy realized that she had been receiving steroid injections for scar treatments. She explained, “I’ve had a breast reduction, a C-section, and other procedures, so I was getting these steroid injections. This led to my condition called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known about if the internet hadn’t been so critical.”

Now, Amy is relieved that she’s healthy and shared in her February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Discovering that I have a type of Cushing syndrome that will eventually resolve itself and that I am healthy was the best news ever.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying incident while having breakfast with husband Justin Bieber. She began showing symptoms similar to a stroke, which left her unable to speak or move the right side of her face. Though these symptoms subsided, she was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.

Upon examination, it was discovered that Hailey had suffered a small blood clot in her brain, known as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Further tests at the University of California, Los Angeles revealed that Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). The blood clot had traveled to her heart through this hole, escaped, and moved to her brain, causing the TIA.

Hailey underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and is now feeling well. She shared her experience on YouTube a month later, explaining that Justin asked if she was alright during the incident, but she couldn’t respond due to the symptoms.

In the same year Hailey went through a health crisis, Justin also faced a similar ordeal. Specifically, in June 2022, the “Baby” singer revealed his diagnosis with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which led to temporary paralysis of parts of his face and caused him to postpone the rest of his Justice World Tour. In an Instagram video, he explained that this condition affected the nerve in his ear and facial nerves, resulting in facial paralysis on one side. As viewers could see, his eye wasn’t blinking, he couldn’t smile on that side of his face, and only one nostril moved – indicating full paralysis on that side. Justin shared with fans that it became increasingly difficult to eat during the ordeal, but eventually, the paralysis subsided. Hailey confirmed on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America that he was recovering well and feeling much better, despite the sudden and frightening nature of the situation. She expressed her relief that he would fully recover.

Initially, Jamie Foxx chose not to disclose much about his hospitalization in April 2023. However, during his 2024 Netflix special titled “What Had Happened Was…”, he shared the ordeal he experienced. In Atlanta, he complained of a severe headache and asked for an aspirin, but before receiving it, he fainted and lost consciousness for approximately 20 days.

A doctor initially examined him and administered a cortisone shot, sending him home. However, his sister Deidra Dixon became concerned and drove him to another hospital where they discovered he had a brain hemorrhage that caused a stroke. After undergoing surgery on the 20th day, Jamie woke up on May 4 in a wheelchair and was unable to walk. He then moved to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

“I just want to express my gratitude for every prayer,” he said, “because I truly needed each one of them.

In 2019, Emilia Clarke, who is known for her role in Game of Thrones, penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” in The New Yorker. This essay detailed an incident where she fell ill at the gym, vomiting profusely and experiencing intense headaches. She suspected brain damage and was rushed to the hospital for a scan.

The diagnosis was grim – a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening type of stroke caused by bleeding in the brain. Emilia had an aneurysm, an arterial rupture that required immediate surgery to seal. The pain during this procedure was unbearable for her.

After recovery, she faced aphasia and found herself muttering nonsensical words. However, a week later, the aphasia passed, and she was discharged from the hospital a month after admission.

In 2013, a follow-up brain scan revealed a growth that had doubled in size, necessitating another surgery. She underwent this operation traditionally, through her skull. Fortunately, Emilia is now reportedly back to full health.

Cori Broadus, daughter of renowned artist Snoop Dogg, expresses her gratitude towards her family.

This is after she experienced a “severe stroke” in January 2024, prompting her loved ones to quickly gather by her side.

In an interview with TopMob News‘ correspondent Will Marfuggi in December 2024, she shared, “I texted them that I just had a stroke and sent them a picture. Everyone just came to my rescue.”

Due to additional health issues, Cori’s hospital stay extended beyond her initial expectations.

“Initially, I could have gone home after the stroke,” she continued from her role in Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story. “However, my lupus wasn’t doing well, and my kidneys were failing. There was a lot happening.”

Today, Cori is making progress towards recovery.

“I’m doing really well,” she added. “I just needed to regain some motor skills, but otherwise, I was okay.

In the early part of her twenties, Shailene Woodley‘s health took a turn for the worse. She experienced severe issues such as losing her hearing, extreme fatigue, and stomach problems. Speaking on the SHE MD Podcast in September 2024, she described it as a complex mix of medical conditions that various doctors had different opinions about.

Determined to find answers, Shailene—who has a background in holistic medicine and herbalism—decided to seek help from both conventional medical professionals and alternative healers. This quest for understanding lasted for an entire decade.

During this time, she also struggled with the psychological effects of her physical discomfort. She developed a fear of food due to the pain it caused, which led to body image issues, confusion about her identity, and feelings of insecurity and unease within herself.

After focusing on both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better. She shared that her health eventually improved, and she is happy to say that she is currently very healthy.
