Teddi Mellencamp’s Urgent Brain Surgery

Teddi Mellencamp is facing another health scare.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared she has been diagnosed with multiple brain tumors.

Teddi posted on Instagram on February 12th that she’s been battling some extremely painful and incapacitating headaches over the past few weeks. Yesterday, the pain became so intense it needed immediate medical attention in a hospital. Following a CT scan and MRI, doctors discovered multiple tumors in her brain. They suspect these growths have been developing for at least half a year.

On February 12, the previous Bravo personality revealed she would undergo an emergency operation to eliminate two of the growths. She mentioned that further smaller tumors will be treated with radiation at a future time.

Teddi, mother of Slate (12 years old), Cruz (10 years old) and Dove (4 years old) – who is separated from her husband Edwin Arroyave – has discovered solace in the company of those nearest to her after receiving her medical diagnosis.

The 43-year-old expressed gratitude for being surrounded by her children, family, healthcare professionals, and friends, all of whom are tirelessly working towards my recovery. She expressed heartfelt appreciation to those who have extended their support during this challenging time.

Ever since breaking the news, the co-host of the “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast has been showered with encouragement from listeners and various other Housewives personalities.

Emily Simpson from The Real Housewives of Orange County expressed a hope for her friend’s wellbeing, saying, “Sending my prayers for your health.” In response, Kiki Barth, a cast member from The Real Housewives of Miami, reciprocated with, “I am sending you my prayers too.

This isn’t the first time Teddi has received difficult medical news.

In 2022, the responsibility coach was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma and went on to undergo a total of 16 surgical procedures to eliminate the cancer. Among these surgeries was one in December 2023, where a significant portion of her skin was removed from an area where most of her melanomas were located. She shared with TopMob News that after this, they pulled the remaining skin over the gap left behind.

I, too, find myself grappling with some very challenging thoughts at times. Moments when the doubts creep in: ‘What if I don’t succeed? What implications might this have for my beloved children, my cherished partner, and the business I’ve nurtured?’ These are heavy emotions that I acknowledge and understand.

However, Teddi maintained a positive outlook on life throughout the painful process.

In situations where events seem beyond your grasp and planning proves futile, it may be necessary to embrace the circumstances and seek tranquility amidst the chaos.

Back in February 2025, the former star of Even Stevens disclosed that she had been accidentally shot in the face during a trip to fire clay pigeons as part of her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday celebration.

She posted on Instagram that there was another group present who accidentally fired towards us, striking me in the face. Immediately, @thebrendanrooney reacted swiftly, evaluated my injuries, and hastily transported me to the hospital. I was wounded in five spots, one of which was just shy of directly hitting my right eye.

The former star of Kim Possible explained, “Regrettably, a piece became stuck near my eye and it’s not safe for surgery right now. However, doctors are keeping close tabs on me as I can currently see clearly.

She expressed her profound gratitude for being alive, stating, “My affection for my daughters, husband, family, and friends is immense.” Recounting a near-death experience, she emphasized that life can unexpectedly alter at any moment, urging everyone to seize opportunities to embrace the people in their lives.

Amy Schumer is grateful that despite the internet often being less than friendly, it played a role in helping her find answers during this instance. She explained on an episode of Call Her Daddy in January 2025 that after receiving a lot of media attention, she said, “Everybody, take it easy,” but then medical professionals started commenting and suggested that something might be wrong with her appearance. Amy was surprised to discover that she was being criticized by doctors!

After these doctors speculated that she had Cushing syndrome and suspected it could be caused by increased cortisol levels or steroid injections, the creator of Life & Beth began to wonder if this was indeed the case. She explained, “I have been getting steroid injections in my scars from a breast reduction, C-section, and other procedures.”

So Amy realized that she may have developed Cushing syndrome as a result of these steroid treatments. She expressed, “If it weren’t for the internet giving me such a hard time, I wouldn’t have known about this!” Today, Amy is relieved to know that she is okay. As she wrote in her February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Finding out that I have a type of Cushing syndrome that will resolve itself and that I am healthy was the best news I could ever imagine.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying incident during breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She began exhibiting symptoms similar to a stroke, as she explained in a YouTube video a month later. She recalling Justin asking if she was alright, but Hailey couldn’t respond because she wasn’t sure and then struggled to speak. Her right side of face started drooping, and she couldn’t form complete sentences.

Hailey mentioned that her facial drooping ceased, and her speech returned, prompting her to visit the hospital for reassurance. The medical team discovered a small blood clot in her brain, which they referred to as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Later, Hailey visited UCLA where they found she had a heart condition called patent foramen ovale (PFO).

Hailey explained that the blood clot moved into her heart, slipped through the PFO, and reached her brain, causing the TIA. She underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and reported feeling well since then.

In the same year as Hailey’s health emergency, I too faced my own health challenge – Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. This rare condition affected me by causing temporary paralysis in parts of my face, compelling me to halt the rest of my Justice World Tour.

In an Instagram video shared in June 2022, I explained that this virus targeted nerves in my ear and facial area, leading to facial paralysis. At the time, it was evident that I couldn’t blink one eye, smile on half of my face, or move one nostril. The entire side of my face was completely paralyzed.

I informed my followers that eating became increasingly difficult for me. However, over time, the paralysis subsided.

Hailey shared her optimism about my recovery during a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America, stating, “He’s doing really well.” She later added, “He’s feeling much better now. It was indeed a terrifying and seemingly random occurrence, but he will make a full recovery, and I am just grateful that he is okay.

In the realm of personal wellness insights, allow me to share an inspiring tale from my friend, the illustrious Jamie Foxx. Despite maintaining a veil of secrecy surrounding his health incident in April 2023, he eventually disclosed his harrowing experience.

One fateful day in Atlanta, as I recounted in my 2024 Netflix special What Had Happened Was…, I was struck with an excruciating headache. I asked a companion for an aspirin, but before I could find relief, I lost consciousness. I regained awareness twenty days later.

Initially, a doctor administered a cortisone shot and sent me home. However, my sister Deidra Dixon recognized something was amiss and transported me to the hospital. The diagnosis was grim: A brain hemorrhage had triggered a stroke.

Following a surgical intervention on April 24th, I awoke on May 4th in a wheelchair, unable to walk. I then embarked on a journey to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

In closing, let me express my deepest gratitude for every prayer offered during this trying time. Each and every one was crucial to my recovery.

Emilia Clarke filmed intense battle sequences for Game of Thrones, but in 2019, she penned an essay for The New Yorker titled “A Fight for My Life.”

Describing a severe headache at the gym, she wrote, “I made it to the restroom, collapsed on my knees, and was violently sick. Meanwhile, the pain—sharp, piercing, constricting pain—was intensifying. Somewhere within me, I recognized that my brain had been injured.”

She was rushed to the hospital for a scan. “The prognosis was swift and ominous: a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a severe form of stroke caused by bleeding in the area surrounding the brain,” the Emmy-nominated actress continued. “I had suffered an aneurysm, a ruptured artery.”

She underwent immediate surgery to repair the aneurysm, describing the pain as “excessive.” During her recovery, she experienced aphasia and babbled incoherently.

A week later, she noted, the aphasia subsided, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month’s stay. However, at a 2013 scan, she learned that the growth had doubled in size, requiring another surgery.

“When they revived me, I was screaming in agony,” she wrote. “The operation hadn’t succeeded. I had experienced a massive hemorrhage, and the doctors made it clear that my chances of survival were slim if they didn’t operate again. This time, they would need to access my brain through the traditional method—through my skull.”

Fortunately, she shared, she is now “completely recovered.

Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expresses her gratitude towards her family after they stood by her side during a severe stroke she experienced in January 2024. She informed her loved ones about the incident through a text and a picture, and everyone rushed to help her. Due to some additional health complications, Cori had to stay at the hospital longer than initially expected. In particular, her lupus wasn’t doing well, and her kidneys were failing. However, she is now recovering. According to Cori, she faced some motor skills issues but overall is doing fine.

During her twenties, the health of Shailene Woodley was challenging. To the point where she started losing her hearing, struggled to walk without resting for extended periods, and found everything she ate upset her stomach. She was diagnosed with a complex mix of health issues by different doctors, which left her confused and seeking answers.

To find solutions, Shailene, who has a background in holistic medicine and herbalism, sought help from both conventional medical professionals and independent healers. This journey, lasting for a decade, not only affected her physically but also led to mental struggles such as fear of food due to discomfort, body dysmorphia, identity confusion, and feelings of insecurity about her own body.

However, after focusing on both her physical and mental well-being, Shailene is now feeling much better. She’s grateful to report that she is healthy once again.
