Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 surpassed a fresh sales achievement, moving more than three million copies since its debut in January 2024. Previously, it achieved a significant milestone in February 2024, with two million units sold.
Based on the latest Tekken Talk Live presentation for Season 2, the development team revealed that the fighting game is currently selling more quickly than Tekken 7 did initially. Remarkably, Tekken 7 reached three million sales within its first year. Given this trend, it’s likely that Tekken 8 may have already surpassed this milestone earlier, and the developer is only now officially confirming it.
Tekken 8 has proven to be a hit, earning praise from critics upon its release for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It’s welcomed new DLC characters like Heihachi Mishima, as well as free updates featuring additional story chapters. Yet, there’s been a stir over the game’s monetization, particularly regarding the Tekken Shop and its pricing.
In the second season, there will be six additional playable characters as downloadable content, with Anna Williams being the first, available to Season Pass owners on March 31st, followed by a general release for everyone else on April 3rd.
