With Maui Thai coming back its time to look at Tekken 8 Fahkumram!
Bandai Namco’s 2nd DLC fighter is the controversial Tekken 7 long reaching screecher.
But what makes him different from the last version and is he worth 8 dollars?
Tekken 8 Fahkumram
The massive freak arrives in game on July 7th early access and 10th for regular folk.
2 more days until you become his next target! The action-packed game, Fahkumram, will be available for early access starting July 8 (CEST) or July 7 (PDT)!
To celebrate this event, we had a chat with the Muay Thai world champion, Nadaka Yoshinari, who was instrumental in capturing Fahkumram’s movements. Find out about his experience working on the game!

In simpler terms, Michael Murray’s character in OC resembles the Maui Tai fighter we knew earlier. However, the transformation of Fahkumram in Tekken 8 is quite noticeable compared to that.
Despite not undergoing significant transformation in his overall look and style, there have been noticeable improvements. For instance, many of his previously problematic moves such as FFF3 have been adjusted to be less powerful. Consequently, the wide-reaching knee strike no longer spans the entire screen.
Similarly, reductions in movement for steps 4,3 and 4,4 have been implemented. On the other hand, the downward forward step 1,2 no longer deals mid-high damage but instead causes a knockdown. Additionally, it provides a Gurrada force buff. This buff can be obtained after executing DF1,2, ff1+2, a punch parry or using heat actively.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that the most nerve-wracking aspect is his readied 3(4,3 hold) stance trickery. It seems yet another character has been equipped with a 50/50 stance mix-up! In this stance, he possesses a secure low attack, a safe mid string, a plus on block mid, an interruptible unblockable, and a Throw, making him quite formidable in combat.

Furthermore, this throw is essentially impossible to learn, so if you make the wrong bet, there’s no way out. Even though his charge attacks can be dodged by stepping aside, they can be faked to set up punishments.
It appears that the character Fahkumram in Tekken 8 seems equally irritating compared to his portrayal in Tekken 7, due to the introduction of fresh annoyances. Despite resolving many bothersome aspects from Tekken 7, he still seems challenging and aggravating to go up against.

Playing with his 50/50 mix-ups and long-range charge can significantly improve your rank. Yet, contrary to his imposing size like Baki, he deals less damage than Anna. In reality, his combat strategy resembles Anna’s, but it’s executed slightly slower.
Also, the guy has not 13 frame launchers like 7, not even DF 1!

In addition to Tekken 8 featuring Fahkumram, there’s also the inclusion of the Pac-Man Anniversary stage. Similar to geometric planes, it offers a 3D abstract setting with fractured floors. However, the reception has been lukewarm for this addition given the high price point associated with Tekken’s 30th anniversary celebration.

While I’m not an ardent detractor of Fahkumram, I wouldn’t say I’m a die-hard fan either. His appearance doesn’t particularly bother me, but his general style and the way he’s utilized feels quite unusual to me.
I’m not asking for your average, everyday Baki here; I want the raw, unfiltered version. He shouldn’t be trying to connect with us as some overly relatable family man. This character looks like a freak, and he should act like one! However, it seems like Murray’s unique, original fighter gets the VIP treatment in the game, even though many players can’t stand him. That’s cool, Murray!
Reinforcing the concept of an additional character with a 50/50 posture switch-ups could be quite engaging! Indeed, it seems this is what fans are eagerly anticipating for Season 2 – yet another unpredictable character that might challenge players in unique ways.
Is Tekken 8 Fahkumram not really worth $8, in my opinion. However, if you’re looking to easily dominate the few players still engaged with Tekken online, then it might be worth considering. Despite Armour King being the next fighter on the roster, I have a feeling the developers will incorporate additional slot machine-like offensive mechanics for him as well.
It’s nearly Tekken’s 30th anniversary, but so far, there hasn’t been much to satisfy the fans – they’ve only received one new DLC character for Tekken 7 and a stage that seems out of place, which is available at an additional cost.
