For about two weeks now, there’s been quite a stir within the Tekken fanbase, following the debut of the contentious revamp for Season 2 in Tekken 8.
Due to the poor quality of the brawler, numerous individuals have decided to boycott it completely. They are not only avoiding participating in it but also preventing it from being included in local fighting game competitions and similar events. Interestingly, Tekken 7 has experienced a surge in its player base, as disheartened Tekken 8 enthusiasts resort to the earlier version instead.
It’s clear that the situation is dire when even modders feel compelled to remove most of the distinctive features from Tekken 8, essentially reducing it to a different game altogether.

wording suggestion: A custom PC modification created by renowned Tekken modifier KulaGGin is garnering attention among hardcore Tekken communities. It’s generating buzz on Reddit and being featured on multiple YouTube channels, including I AM OP, who recently shared a video about it.
The idea is that Tekken 8 seems excessively aggressive. There are too many moves, particularly those introduced in Season 2, which can be overpowering to the extent that playing defensively appears pointless. This trend has caused some long-time Tekken players to yearn for a reversion to the series’ simpler, yet highly technical gameplay style.
Therefore, there is now a fresh modification in place that eliminates entirely the Heat system unique to Tekken 8. This change aims to reduce the excessive reliance on aggressive play that was prevalent throughout the game.
In addition, it eliminates Rage, a condition that amplifies damage when characters have low health, and improves the overall accuracy of moves, making them less predictable. This adjustment makes defensive side-steps, a popular technique in the series that has been weakened significantly in Tekken 8’s Season 2, more effective once more.
It’s increasingly obvious that Bandai Namco should take action to improve Tekken 8, as changes are urgently needed. Evo Japan, the opening event of this year’s Tekken World Tour, is just around the corner, and if the major problems with Tekken 8 aren’t resolved by then, the entire tournament could be subjected to widespread mockery.
