As a longtime fan of the Tekken series, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and nostalgia with the latest announcement from Bandai Namco. The reveal that Heihachi Mishima will be returning to the playable roster in Tekken 8 as a DLC character later this year is truly a momentous occasion for me.
In the near future, Tekken 8 players have much to anticipate with photo mode and a free stage, as well as Lidia Sobieska’s comeback as a DLC character. However, Bandai Namco has additionally announced exciting plans for later in the year: Heihachi Mishima, a long-time franchise villain, is slated to reappear in Tekken 8 this fall.
Heihachi was conspicuously absent from the base game of Tekken 8, having not appeared outside of flashbacks. However, given his significant role in the series, it’s only a matter of time before he makes a comeback as a downloadable character later in the year. Bandai Namco confirmed this at Evo with an exciting trailer, which you can watch below.
We don’t have a set date for Heihachi’s arrival just yet, and it’s still a mystery who will join the game as the fourth DLC character during its first year of post-launch updates. Keep an eye on our announcements in the upcoming weeks for more information.
Tekken 8 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
