Tense EastEnders trailer sees The Six at the trial of Dean Wicks

As a seasoned soap opera aficionado with over three decades of viewing under my belt, I must say that this upcoming EastEnders trial has all the makings of a gripping drama. The Six versus Dean Wicks, a tale as old as time itself, or at least as old as the Walford block.

A freshly unveiled teaser suggests that the upcoming episode of EastEnders will be filled with excitement as The Six prepare for a confrontation with Dean Wicks, an event likely to unfold in a suspenseful court trial.

This past season, I found myself utterly enthralled by the twist where Matt Di Angelo’s character, Dean, was taken into custody for the alleged murder of Keanu Taylor, portrayed by Danny Walters. This shocking event unfolded around the festive season.

Contrary to popular belief, Dean wasn’t responsible for Keanau’s death. Instead, it was Kellie Bright’s character, Linda Carter, who intervened, saving Letitia Dean’s character, Sharon, from Keanau’s grasp as he tried to strangle her.

First, the Six concealed the crime they committed, later falsely accusing Dean of it. Now, we’ll get a detailed portrayal of Dean’s court proceedings commencing on Monday, 2nd September.

You can watch the trailer on the BBC website.

Did Six devise a scheme to falsely accuse Dean of murder, partially due to his previous evasion of punishment for raping Linda? Could justice eventually catch up with him, even if it’s for an incorrect charge?

It’s common knowledge that Dean’s tale on the soap opera will conclude, regardless of whether his character is convicted for the murder or acquitted.

At the TopMob Soap Awards on the red carpet, Matt Di Angelo shared with The Sun that his character will be leaving the show after this particular storyline unfolds.

He said: “There is a trial. I know the result of the trial, because we’ve filmed it already. I can tell you – but I won’t because it would ruin the television.

“Dean is similar to the World Cup; you can manage a taste of him once every six years, and then after a week, you might find yourself saying, ‘I think I’ve had enough for now.'”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
