The steady stream of updates by developer Re-Logic for the game Terraria has significantly contributed to its lasting popularity, which it’s maintained for over a decade. However, the arrival of the next update may take slightly more time than initially anticipated.
The anticipated update 1.4.5 for Terraria was initially scheduled to release by the end of 2024; however, in a recent post on the game’s official forum, Ted “Loki” Murphy, head of business strategy and marketing at Re-Logic, announced that the update has been pushed back to the next year. According to Murphy, late-year releases often come with multiple challenges, which is why Re-Logic chose not to push their team into overtime work (crunch).
Murphy stated that each team member’s work on the final lists is about to wrap up, marking significant progress. However, he’s confident that Terraria 1.4.5 won’t be released this year due to various reasons. He explained that releasing at the end of the year can be risky because of review cycles, people taking time off for holidays, and other factors. The team had hoped to beat the holiday rush, but it seems unlikely now. They also refuse to make their team or any other team crunch for an artificial deadline. As a result, the next Terraria update will move into 2025.
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t hide the fact that I understand the frustration some of you might feel about the delay in Update 1.4.5. Let me say this upfront: I’m truly sorry for the extended waiting time. However, I want to assure you all that the wait will be worth it.
