Terrifier 3 director says “1 or 2 movies tops” before he’s done with saga

As a seasoned horror enthusiast who has braved countless sleepless nights due to the chilling chill of the Terrifier franchise, I can confidently say that the impending return of Art the Clown in Terrifier 3 is not just another movie event, but a hallowed rite of passage for us terrified fans.

In the UK, audiences are finally getting a chance to see the third installment of the infamously grisly Terrifier series. However, it’s been confirmed that the menacing figure known as Art the Clown will be back for another round of bloodshed in at least one more horror flick.

He clarified during the exclusive interview that he knows the final outcome, but he’s wondering how many puzzle pieces he needs to put together to reach that point.

How long should I continue developing these ideas for – not out of reluctance, but because there are so many? I’m constantly brainstorming new concepts, like I have a never-ending supply. I’ve got folders filled with potential scenes, funny or terrifying ideas where I could place Art the Clown.

However, he continued, “The question then arises, how many subplots can I include in this film, all while advancing the main narrative and following Sienna’s tale? Frankly, I’m not sure.

“Personally, I think one or two movies tops before I’m done with my Terrifier saga, and I feel like we have a complete, satisfying franchise on our hands.”

Leone conveyed that his apprehension stemmed from the possibility of “decreasing benefits,” expressing a desire to avoid producing films merely for the purpose of production, as this could potentially mar all the work being done.

If these films continue to decline in quality, it might be wiser to leave before things get worse, if that’s an option,” he clarified.

With each installment of the “Terrifier” series that’s been unveiled thus far, the budgets have grown significantly – from $35,000 to $250,000 and then to $2 million – and as these figures have escalated, so has the buzz and notoriety surrounding the franchise. The upcoming “Terrifier 3” is poised for a considerably larger launch than its predecessors, marking the most substantial release of the trilogy so far.

Simultaneously, these films have gradually unveiled additional insights into the extensive Terrifier mythos, such as Sienna Shaw’s (Lauren LaVera) background as a final girl, and intricate details regarding Art the Clown’s character and his methods of functioning.

It appears Leone takes great delight in exploring a topic, becoming so intrigued that he confesses his fascination has shifted from the gruesome aspects towards the lore. We’ll simply have to believe him on this point…

He shared that he enjoys sharing details about each movie, posing additional questions to pique the audience’s curiosity, so they continue wanting more.

However, I acknowledge that my tale isn’t fully spun yet, which is why I prefer to hold back some details for now. This way, there will still be intrigue and something to engage with later on.

Instead of constantly reviving Art the Clown to slaughter new groups and repeatedly remake “Terrifier” as the original, I find such an approach monotonous and uninteresting.

“Like I said, I’m more interested in the story and the characters now, more than the kill scenes.

I’m deeply engaged with the broader narrative and find myself particularly drawn to Sienna’s current heroic journey. Her character captivates me almost as much as Art the Clown does, if not equally so. Essentially, this aspect of the story holds equal importance for me.

Starting this coming Friday, the 11th of October, you’ll be able to catch Terrifier 3 in movie theaters across the UK. If you haven’t seen the first two installments yet, they’re both accessible on Amazon Prime Video and Paramount Plus.
