Thanks to Sabrina Carpenter, for the first time in my life — I want to play Fortnite

In a surprising twist, even for someone like me who rarely delves into the world of gaming, the irresistible allure of Fortnite, constantly at the forefront of pop culture trends, has drawn me in once more. This time, they’ve introduced Sabrina Carpenter-themed skins and emotes, allowing her lively and catchy dance moves to invade the battlefield. The synchronous dancing of players, particularly appealing in videos after video, is making it hard to resist the fun this update offers.

What’s the big deal about Sabrina Carpenter?

As a 38-year-old music enthusiast undergoing a midlife transformation, I find myself drawn to the pop genre more than ever, appreciating both System of a Down and Taylor Swift equally. As the sun warms up the days, I’ve been immersed in Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short and Sweet” album – it’s playful, it’s cheerful, and sets the perfect tone for a good mood.

The addition of Sabrina as a character in Fortnite is a fantastic embodiment of female empowerment, perfectly aligning with Fortnite’s anything-goes environment that has swiftly incorporated popular icons such as Deadpool and Skibidi (for those unacquainted, consider yourself fortunate).

It’s clear that Sabrina Carpenter skins are for everyone, and I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that many of these people wearing sequin mini dresses in the game are likely young boys. However, watching videos of players choosing not to attack each other when they see another Sabrina on the battlefield or wasting their time to do a synchronized dance instead is an entirely new level of wholesome. If this isn’t proof that video games don’t make people violent, I’m not sure what is, because after all, can’t we all synchronize dance to Juno?

Will I actually download Fortnite?

To be frank, games that involve shooting are typically not my preferred genre, yet I surprisingly enjoyed Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 last year. The ‘battle royale’ aspect of Warzone fails to capture my interest due to my less-than-ideal reaction speed, but the Sabrina segment could potentially change that.

Engaging, amusing, and perfectly fitting my need for a carefree pastime, Fortnite seems to be the game for me. Who would have thought that the chance to embrace my inner pop sensation would lure me into giving it a try?

My debut as Sabrina might just end with being eliminated by ‘I_boinked_ur_mom69’, but if I manage to pull off an Espresso dance move before that, it will be all worthwhile.
