If May seemed less exciting than expected with numerous blockbuster launches, June is poised to surpass it. Apart from various events and possible groundbreaking announcements, it also marks the debut of a fresh Nintendo console, the first new Mario Kart game in over a decade, the highly anticipated sequel to Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding, and much more. Let’s take a look at the 15 most significant releases of June 2025.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel exhilarated about the upcoming title from Kojima Productions – none other than Death Stranding 2: On the Beach! Just like every new release from this studio is an epic occasion, this sequel promises to be even more grandiose and bizarre. Sam Porter Bridges embarks on a fresh journey to reconnect a new continent, and the game is brimming with innovative concepts and gameplay mechanics.
The action-packed narrative now emphasizes more on combat, introducing new traits and proficiency levels for our protagonist. The mysterious BTs are back, but with new iterations, and there’s a day/night cycle to navigate. Stealth mechanisms have been deepened, weather patterns change dynamically, and we’ll encounter brand-new characters alongside the enigmatic Magellan Man.
But that only scratches the surface of what this game has in store! Mark your calendars for June 26th, as Death Stranding 2 is set to arrive exclusively on PS5, promising another unforgettable experience distinctly crafted by Hideo Kojima.
Mario Kart World
Initially, there was widespread belief that Grand Theft Auto 6 would debut at $80. However, as it transpired, it was Mario who took center stage. With the massive sales of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart World has undeniably become the standout game. And to be candid, Nintendo hasn’t been idle in terms of innovation. Tracks are now integrated into a vast open world, teeming with optional activities, collectibles, and challenges. A plethora of new racers, karts, and cosmetic items await discovery. The core gameplay is brimming with new power-ups, moves, and even features like Rewind. There’s a lot to explore here, but will it be enough? We’ll see when Mario Kart World launches on June 5th, coinciding with the release of Switch 2.
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour
Could the Welcome Tour possibly offer an enjoyable experience similar to Astro’s Playroom? While it’s unlikely, if Nintendo transforms all the features of the Switch 2 into a playable exhibit with mini-games and quizzes, it could be quite engaging. Ideally, it would be free, but at $10, it’s not unreasonable. Here’s hoping it provides value for our investment when it debuts along with the Switch 2.
Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut
Like a Dragon, once associated primarily with the Yakuza series, has expanded into fresh settings and gameplay elements. However, the original Yakuza 0 stands the test of time. It’s set to release as the Director’s Cut on Nintendo Switch 2, featuring updated cutscenes (some offering resolution to plot points, as confirmed by the voice cast), English dubbing, and the option for multiplayer cooperation in PvE battles with up to 60 characters. Despite its initial launch in 2015, consider it a must-play, arguably the finest entry in the Yakuza series.
MindsEye
It’s hard to understand how a game can create excitement with minimal gameplay details and just two weeks left before its release. However, Build A Rocket Boy’s MindsEye has somehow managed to do just that. The fact that it’s a single-player action adventure game developed by Leslie Benzies, who is known for Grand Theft Auto, makes it intriguing. Whether MindsEye turns out to be a brilliant masterpiece or an ordinary game remains to be seen. But we are eagerly awaiting its launch on June 10th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition
In an exciting turn of events, not only are there planned updates for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, such as the free Siege Mode reminiscent of Horde mode, but Sega, Relic Entertainment, and SneakyBox are re-releasing the original Space Marine! Set to launch on June 10th for Xbox Series X/S and PC at a price point of $40, the Master Crafted Edition boasts enhanced visuals with 4K resolution support, refined audio, and updated controls. It includes all DLC content, including armor sets, Golden weapons, Map Packs, and Chapter Packs, and promises cross-play for its intense 8v8 multiplayer battles. Regrettably, PS5 owners will not get to join in the fun, but Space Marine 1 is a must-play for any Warhammer 40K enthusiast.
The Alters
After much anticipation following several hints of conflicts and grim conclusions, the long-awaited sci-fi survival/base-building game from 11 bit studios titled The Alters is set to debut on June 13th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. As players take on the role of Jan Dolski, they find themselves stranded on a hostile planet with their crew deceased. With no other options for managing the colossal moving base and escaping a deadly sun, they create Alters – each an autonomous version of Jan possessing unique abilities, professions, desires, necessities, and emotional swings. Gather resources to fulfill their needs, navigate various perils, and perhaps return home unscathed with all limbs intact.
FBC: Firebreak
Firebreak” might be worth exploring when it releases on June 17th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
Lost in Random: The Eternal Die
The underrated game “Zoink’s Lost in Random” is receiving a sequel with rogue-like elements, developed by Thunderful Studios. This time, the story revolves around the former Queen, now known as Aleksandra, who is imprisoned within the Black Die. Alongside Fortune, she endeavors to escape from its four distinct regions, battling numerous foes and bosses in the process. Featuring over 100 customizable relics, intense real-time combat, and maintaining the same stunning visual style, “Lost in Random: The Eternal Die” is scheduled for release on June 17th on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition
It might have been hard to imagine that the bustling and brutal Night City would one day be playable on a Nintendo console. However, it seems highly unlikely for PS4 and Xbox One gamers who haven’t had the chance to explore Phantom Liberty. The Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition brings the main game to Switch 2 players, including all updates and the critically-acclaimed expansion, offering reasonably good performance. What’s more exciting is that the physical version includes the entire package on a cartridge, eliminating any need for digital keys. Just like other Switch 2 games, it will be available starting June 5th.
Rematch
As a gamer, I’ve got to say, the latest creation from Sloclap, the makers of Sifu, has me intrigued. They’re stepping into a new arena with Rematch, a soccer game set for release on June 19th, available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. This isn’t just another sports title; it’s a 5v5 battlefield where skill matters most. The open beta last April saw a staggering 134,000 players at its peak on Steam, and the positive response was palpable. Fingers crossed that Rematch can bottle that energy and keep the excitement rolling, especially with a $30 price tag.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster
Approximately six years following its initial announcement, the enhanced edition of “System Shock 2” is set to debut on June 26th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Now referred to as the “25th Anniversary Remaster,” it offers mod support on PC, new Trophies and Achievements, ultra-widescreen compatibility, and 4K resolution support. On PC, players can choose a frame rate of 144 FPS, while Xbox Series X and PS5 users can select 120 FPS. If the remake of “System Shock” is any indication, the “System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster” should be another hit.
Tron: Catalyst
Following the visual novel mystery of Tron: Identity, Bithell Games returns with Tron: Catalyst – a spin taking on the action-adventure genre. In this installment, players will take control of Exo, who obtains the enigmatic power known as the Glitch, which could potentially disrupt the Arq Grid. Featuring beat ’em up combat mechanics, light cycles, and time manipulation through glitches, Catalyst promises to be another strong entry in the series when it releases on June 17th for Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC.
Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition
As Mortal Kombat 1‘s support concludes and Tekken 8 continues to adapt following Season 2’s updates, Street Fighter 6 stands out as the leading mainstream fighting title. This game is set to debut alongside Switch 2 on its launch day, offering all DLC fighters from Years 1 and 2, in addition to cross-play functionality and two unique modes – Gyro Battle, where players engage in combat using gyro controls, and Calorie Contest, which incorporates a calorie mechanism. Despite these distinctive features, you can still expect an exceptional fighting game with a robust roster (including the upcoming character Elena) and impressive online capabilities.
Zombie Army VR
If you’re among those continuing to enjoy virtual reality gaming on platforms like Steam, Oculus Quest 2, or PlayStation VR2, consider giving Rebellion’s Zombie Army series a try as it fills the growing gap in your gaming experience. Launching on June 12th, this new campaign maintains the franchise’s classic World War II weaponry and over-the-top action, along with gory X-ray Kill Cams for added thrill. Although there’s only two-player co-op mode available, it certainly beats having nothing at all!
