However, it’s crucial that Marvel Studios portray a stronger, more complex version of Iceman as seen in the comics. In the comic book world, Iceman’s ice abilities have evolved to nearly divine levels, enabling him to create autonomous constructs and even freeze the flames of Hell – an unprecedented feat.

Bobby Drake has seen significant growth in his powers alongside his personal struggles, which adds depth and authenticity to his character. The progression of Iceman from a young, closeted individual with limited abilities to a self-accepting, powerful mutant is an engaging arc that the MCU should explore. For a period, she even ruled over Limbo. She has faced death and resurrection multiple times and has grown to be one of the beloved X-Men characters.
The popularity of Magik is increasing, making it an ideal moment to integrate her into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Her experiences in Limbo, a nightmarish realm filled with demons and where time behaves differently, offer endless possibilities for spine-tingling superhero tales within the MCU, particularly if Marvel Studios chooses to adapt her ’80s miniseries. Moreover, Magik’s magical abilities would enable exciting crossovers with Doctor Strange, a connection that has been explored in the comics.

A lesser-known yet intriguing aspect of the Marvel Universe, the Captain Britain Corps, could greatly benefit from being explored in various creative ways by the MCU. With connections to the mystical realm of the Marvel Universe, including ties to Merlin, this character brings a unique flavor. Fans have suggested Henry Cavill for the role due to similarities between Captain Britain and Superman, which would be advantageous for the franchise. Furthermore, since Captain Britain is a magical mantle that can be passed on, it allows for other characters to assume the role, as seen in the comics with Elizabeth stepping into her brother’s shoes as Britain’s protector. All these factors make Captain Britain an ideal fit for the contemporary MCU and a great means of acknowledging UK fans and their rich fantasy heritage.
Legion
The TV show Legion, cherished by many, delved deeply into the complex character of Legion/David Haller. Legion plays a pivotal role in the X-Men universe: He’s the son of Charles Xavier and Gabrielle Haller, a Jewish woman whom Xavier encountered during his time in Israel around when he befriended Magneto. David was born later on, and before Xavier established his school and the X-Men, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. In addition to being a mutant, each of his personalities possessed unique psychic abilities. Reflecting his father’s powers, David ranks among the most potent mutants globally, but his mental illness poses significant risks.
The existence of Legion was one of the early hints that Professor X, as portrayed in the MCU, wasn’t flawless but a complex individual who abandoned a woman and a child to chase his dreams. It is crucial for fans to comprehend this aspect of his character, as Legion offers them an insight into this side of Xavier. Moreover, Legion is an exceptional character – he serves as a formidable adversary and evolves significantly as he navigates his mental challenges and abilities, eventually finding reconciliation with his father and falling in love with the mutant Blindfold. This journey makes Legion one of the most captivating and powerful mutants, revealing Xavier’s flaws, and paving the way for adapting some of Marvel’s most remarkable multiverse stories like The Age of Apocalypse.
Proteus
In simpler terms, the character named Proteus exhibits the harmful consequences of mutation. Kevin MacTaggert, son of Moira MacTaggert – a character similar to one seen in Fox’s X-Men movies – and an ally of Xavier, awakens as a mutant with extraordinary reality-bending abilities. Unfortunately, these powers severely damaged his physical form. As a biologist specializing in evolution, Moira had to find a method to suppress his powers to keep him alive. Kevin eventually broke free and discovered he could inhabit new bodies, but these too would falter when he used his powers. Moira contacted Xavier, who assembled the X-Men, leading to Colossus ultimately killing Proteus, whose sole vulnerability was metal. This incident marked a significant milestone in X-Men lore, yet it didn’t put an end to Proteus.
Over the years, I’ve had the misfortune – or perhaps it was fate – of encountering Proteus on more than one occasion. Once a madman driven by his extraordinary powers, he found solace during the Krakoa Era, becoming integral to the mutant resurrection process and gaining access to cloned bodies. This alleviated some of the burden that his powers imposed upon him.
Proteus is no ordinary villain. His power level places him among the elite of the Marvel Universe. Yet, his story is not one of glory or triumph; it’s a tragic tale of a child whose powers led to self-loathing and hatred towards those around him. He stands as a stark reminder of the dark side that can lurk within mutant abilities. His character offers a rich tapestry for compelling narratives.
