The popular series “The Apothecary Diaries” has soared to one of the top anime adaptations today, thanks in part to its deeply resonating characters and captivating mystery narrative. As the anime continues into its second season, the light novel and manga versions centered around Maomao and Jinshi continue their journey. However, artist Nekokurage has some unfortunate news for fans who have been following the manga since its debut in 2017. Due to health concerns, the printed story will be temporarily halted; however, rest assured that “The Apothecary Diaries” won’t be away from Monthly Big Gangan for an extended period of time.
In a recent social media update, Nekokurage announced that the comic series “The Apothecary Diaries” will temporarily pause due to a bout with strep throat and whooping cough. The upcoming issue of Big Gangan magazine, slated for release tomorrow, has been postponed because of his poor health during the writing phase, contracted by both illnesses. He expresses regret but encourages everyone to stay cautious as these diseases seem to be circulating. Fortunately, Square Enix, the publisher of Monthly Big Gangan, has provided an estimated return date for the manga’s continuation.
The Apothecary Diaries Comeback
Monthly Big Gangan announced a temporary break for “The Apothecary Diaries” series through their official social media channels. They also revealed that the series will return next month, specifically on June 25th. Here’s the message they posted:
“We appreciate your ongoing support for ‘The Apothecary Diaries.’ Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the publication of ‘The Apothecary Diaries,’ originally planned for Monthly Big Gangan 2025 Vol.06 (on sale May 23), has been postponed. We deeply apologize to everyone who was eagerly awaiting it.
Hey there! Just wanted to share some exciting news about “The Apothecary Diaries” – the special bonus item, the original clear file from the print edition of Monthly Big Gangan 2025 Vol.06, will be delivered as promised. This series is set to return in the upcoming issue, Monthly Big Gangan 2025 Vol.07, which drops on June 25th. A big thank you for your ongoing support of “The Apothecary Diaries”!
The Apothecary Diaries’ Future
Even after a temporary break, there’s still ample content for The Apothecary Diaries to draw from if it chooses to produce a third season.
