Following a triumphant debut, the captivating historical anime series The Pharmacist Journals is set to make its comeback in season 2, drawing inspiration from additional tales penned by author Natsu Hyūga in his Japanese light novel series.
In Tang dynasty China, we find the story unfolding, chronicled in “The Apothecary Diaries.” This tale centers around a young girl named Maomao, who dedicated her life to learning the art of apothecary from a tender age.
However, after being abducted and compelled into bonded labor, Maomao’s life undergoes a significant shift. Eventually, she finds herself serving in the royal court, joining forces with a eunuch named Jinshi to unravel enigmas within the palace walls.
The supporting cast features concubines and courtiers, with plenty of dangerous conspiracies afoot.
