Chris Evans stands out among actors as one who has excelled in not just one, but two iconic comic book roles. Following his entry into Hollywood, Evans made a significant stride by securing the role of Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four. However, it was when he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Captain America for nearly a decade, that he truly made an impact. While many are familiar with his Marvel roles and other notable films like Knives Out and Snowpiercer, one of Evans’ most impressive performances can be found in a relatively unnoticed drama from 2017.
After appearing in Captain America and Avengers films, Evans acted in a movie titled “Gifted,” which was directed by Marc Webb, known for The Amazing Spider-Man. Released eight years ago, this film made $43 million at the box office. Now, fans can watch it free of charge. Tubi added “Gifted” to their selection at the beginning of April, giving viewers an opportunity to stream it without any monthly subscriptions or costs, provided they’re willing to sit through a few ads during playback.
In the movie “Gifted,” Evans portrays Frank, a former professor who transforms into a mechanic and takes care of his exceptionally gifted niece, Mary. Despite recognizing her unique talent, Frank strives hard to provide her with as ordinary a life as possible, often feeling uncertain about his abilities as a parent.
Interestingly, the same movie featured McKenna Grace, who later became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) two years after, portraying a 13-year-old Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. In an earlier role, Grace played Mary in Gifted, garnering much acclaim for her acting skills, just like Evans.
Apart from Evans and Grace, the cast of Gifted included Octavia Spencer, Jenny Slate, and Lindsay Duncan as well.
