What you need to know

  • Secretlab makes some of the most popular and critically acclaimed gaming chairs with its TITAN Evo series, and announced the latest iteration today with the NanoGen Edition, combining two “next-gen” materials developed in-house.
  • The NanoGen Hybrid Leatherette, for example, uses three unique layers and a proprietary manufacturing process to massively increase durability and long-term resilience over normal PU leather, but without sacrificing comfort.
  • The NanoFoam Composite balances support and softness with dual layers that are refined down to the milimeter across the chair.
  • Secretlab’s new NanoGen Edition chair represents a new peak for the series, and is available now from $799 at Secretlab in both black and white.

As someone who has spent countless hours huddled over gaming chairs, I can confidently say that Secretlab’s latest offering, the TITAN Evo NanoGen Edition, is turning heads in the gaming community. With its focus on cutting-edge material science, this chair seems to be aiming for the stars, or at least the top of Secretlab’s lineup.

In the realm of gaming chairs, not many brands have achieved as much acclaim as Secretlab. This company has built a solid reputation with its TITAN Evo line of chairs, often hailed as among the very finest available on the market. Now, Secretlab is unveiling an advanced iteration of their renowned gaming chair, seeking to confirm its top-tier status once more. The new kid on the block is the TITAN Evo NanoGen Edition.

This new gaming chair shares a resemblance with the widely available TITAN Evo, but it stands out at the top of Secretlab’s collection due to three significant enhancements. First, there’s an entirely new adjustable armrest, featuring Secretlab’s memory foam for added comfort as a standard feature. The main improvements, however, are the innovative materials called “NanoGen,” which were specifically developed in-house at Secretlab.

For a comprehensive breakdown, scroll down, but here’s the gist: Secretlab has introduced an innovative hybrid leatherette and foam for enhanced long-term durability, resilience, and support in their TITAN Evo line. This is also the softest and most comfortable design they’ve ever produced. If this catches your attention, you can explore the Secretlab TITAN Evo NanoGen Edition starting at $799 on the Secretlab website, available in black and white as of today.

On the cutting edge of material science

For a significant period, I cherished my Secretlab TITAN Evo and it held a special place in my heart. Later, I switched to the X-Tech Ultimate Executive Chair, which I had also reviewed. However, the design of the TITAN Evo continues to linger in my memory fondly. Now, the allure of Secretlab’s new offerings has piqued my interest once more. If the improvements they claim with their two new materials for the NanoGen Edition are truly significant enough to warrant its higher price point, I find myself drawn back, eager to see if it lives up to expectations.

Initially, we have the Secretlab NanoGen Hybrid Leatherette. According to Secretlab, this is the softest leatherette they’ve ever used on their chairs, yet it’s more resilient than ever – up to 14 times more durable than standard PU leather in the industry. This durability is achieved through a three-step manufacturing process. The base layer is made of strong and flexible 3D-reinforced polyester fibers supported by woven nanofibers. Secretlab’s NEO Hybrid Leatherette is intertwined with specialty nanofibers to improve comfort and stain resistance. Lastly, a final dye coating individually bonds to the nanofibers to maintain color and boost UV resistance.

The objective for Secretlab is to develop a high-end leatherette material that is devoid of animal products, offers superior resistance against stains, UV rays (which can cause yellowing over time), and everyday wear and tear compared to regular leatherette, while also feeling softer than their previous versions.

Additionally, there’s the Secretlab NanoFoam Composite, which Secretlab claims is their softest and most supportive foam ever produced. This achievement comes from a unique triple-layer manufacturing process that combines a new, soft microfoam top layer with their familiar firm cold foam cushion, all held together by an in-house nano adhesive that binds the layers tightly without losing flexibility or compromising comfort and support. Secretlab even developed a biomechanical model of the human body to identify stress points, allowing them to precisely adjust the thickness of each layer to ensure optimal comfort and support where it’s needed most.

Indeed, Secretlab’s claims suggest a significant amount of work has been put into their products. They declare they invested approximately 37,500 hours in research and development, tested for over 70,000 hours, and developed 1,116 prototypes within the specified timeframe. The NanoGen Edition leverages all the enhancements of past TITAN Evo chairs, particularly the 4-Way L-ADAPT lumbar support system, but elevates durability and comfort to unprecedented levels.

As the premium model in their collection, the NanoGen Edition boasts additional benefits. The enhanced Full-Metal 4D Armrest has been upgraded to a “Heavy Duty Version,” providing a 50% boost in adjustment capabilities compared to previous versions. Standard now with this model are Secretlab’s latest PlushCell Memory Foam Armrest Covers, which include the exclusive, magnetic “CloudSwap” system allowing for easy replacement of cushions.

The NanoGen Edition should also be fully compatible with Secretlab’s various other accessories, like the Recliner Add-on or Lumbar Pillow.

As a tech-loving individual, I must admit I haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing firsthand the extraordinary impact of NanoGen materials, but Secretlab certainly seems to be making some daring claims about their new TITAN Evo NanoGen Edition chair. Considering its hefty price tag, it’s only reasonable to expect such bold promises. Starting today, you can get your hands on this innovative seat from $799 directly at Secretlab, with both black and white color options available. However, please note that the UK will have to exercise a bit more patience, as deliveries are expected in early 2025.
