Recently, Snow White has been making headlines due to the poor performance and disputes surrounding Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White. With negative critiques, disappointing box office earnings, and an extraordinarily high production cost, this version of Snow White has become one of the more notable flops in recent memory, embodying some of the most irritating aspects of modern studio practices. Fortunately, there are numerous superior films featuring the famous character of Snow White, many of which surpass Disney’s latest attempt.
Firstly, there’s the 1937 animated film ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, which marked the beginning of Walt Disney Animation Studios. Secondly, there’s the less recognized action adaptation called ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’, released in 2012, where Kristen Stewart plays Snow White, but it primarily focuses on the character development of the Evil Queen (played by Charlize Theron) and the Huntsman (portrayed by Chris Hemsworth).
Despite not being hailed as an exceptional masterpiece, the movie “Snow White and the Huntsman” offers a decent blend of action and fantasy for viewers. For many Snow White enthusiasts, it provides just the right satisfaction, and now enjoying it has become more convenient due to its addition to Peacock’s streaming service as of April’s start.
Unlike many films in its genre, “Snow White and the Huntsman” isn’t commonly watched by most people. With its recent addition to Peacock, this underseen movie will introduce it to a multitude of film enthusiasts for the first time, offering an opportunity to explore something Snow White-themed without the pressure of watching Disney’s latest release.
While both tales revolve around Snow White, it’s essential to note that “Snow White and the Huntsman” is not a children’s film. Although it doesn’t contain excessive violence, it carries themes and scenes that may be less appropriate for younger viewers compared to Disney’s live-action version of Snow White.
