Erin Moriarty is opening up about her health battle.
Recently, an actress from The Boys announced she’s been diagnosed with Graves’ disease – a condition linked to the immune system that influences the thyroid gland, according to Mayo Clinic information. This disorder leads to the production of excessive thyroid hormone in the body, which she described as a challenging health odyssey leading up to her diagnosis.
About a month ago, I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease. Within 24 hours of starting treatment, I started feeling the light return. Since then, it has been growing brighter for me. If your light seems to be fading, even a little, don’t hesitate to get checked. Don’t endure pain and push through it; you deserve comfort. Life is tough enough already.
An autoimmune condition presents uniquely in every individual,” she explained. “Your journey will be distinct from mine, as my experience is unique from yours. The differences might span significantly or only slightly. However, one point remains consistent: if I hadn’t attributed everything to stress and exhaustion, I would have diagnosed it earlier.
Additionally, among several selfies captured during her health struggle, she also posted a snapshot of a poignant text exchange with her mother prior to getting her official diagnosis.
The actress expressed her desperate need for relief, stating she’s feeling extremely unwell tonight. She feels awful and disconnected from herself, unable to continue living this way indefinitely.
She mentioned that there’s no instant where she feels typical, not even for a brief 5 seconds. This isn’t something new to her; it has never happened before. It’s not just exhaustion; it’s a profound, all-encompassing call for help that I can’t seem to escape from, and I’m unsure of how much longer I can endure in this condition.
In another conversation, following her diagnosis and treatment of an autoimmune disease, Erin shared that she was incredibly relieved to find some alleviation.
She wrote to her father, ‘I feel like a completely different world!’, which made her think, ‘Wow, is this what it’s meant to feel like? I’ve been missing out!’
Besides focusing solely on her physical well-being, Erin has openly discussed how remarks from fans regarding her appearance and personality have affected her mental state, as portrayed in the Amazon superhero series, Annie January.
In 2022, the actress posted on Instagram, “I’ve poured my heart and soul into this role, and such disrespectful comments are precisely what my character (Annie) would stand against.” She included a screenshot from a fan blog discussing the misogynistic remarks made about her. Her message concluded, “We all have our struggles. Let’s try to support each other instead.

A week ago, Brian shared on an Instagram video that he began experiencing discomfort in his abdomen. This led him to visit the hospital’s emergency room where they discovered a perforated appendix – not yet fully ruptured, but very close to it.
He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”
Adam Devine disclosed that the injuries he received at age 11, following an accident with a cement truck, continue to impact him up until now.
In a 2025 episode of the “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” podcast, Devine described it as a very difficult time. He has been experiencing spasms throughout his body. At one point, the doctors informed him that he was close to death – literally, within the last year.
He observed that pain occasionally appears, also mentioning, “My body seems to have several minor issues and imperfections.
Previously part of Bachelor Nation, this individual disclosed that he had to visit the hospital, crawling on all four limbs, as a result of intense back pain that worsened during a recreational vehicle adventure with a companion.
I’m telling you, the adrenaline from that recent interview on my Trading Secrets podcast is still coursing through me, and it’s absolutely mind-blowing! You know, I was boasting about squatting 295 pounds just a few weeks ago. But now, here’s the kicker, I can barely do a one-legged squat without toppling over. It’s as if I’ve had some sort of strange episode, like a temporary stroke or something.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”
During a game in December 2024, as an AHL player, I endured a gruesome injury when another player’s skate sliced into my skin. The wound required a total of 25 stitches to close. After I had fully recuperated, my father, Tom Fitzgerald, the general manager of the New Jersey Devils, expressed his relief to ESPN, stating, “We’re incredibly fortunate. I wouldn’t wish such an experience on any parent.
Back in March 2025, Gina Kirschenheiter from The Real Housewives of Orange County revealed that her former spouse, Matt Kirschenheiter, experienced a heart attack. Fortunately, he made it through this harrowing incident.
30 Rock’s leading actor experienced a health emergency during a New York Knicks match at Madison Square Garden in March 2025, causing him to be transported from the venue.
On the next day, the comedian posted an update on his social media platform, stating that it was a matter of food poisoning and he was already improving.
Back in February 2025, I, a thrilled fan, couldn’t help but share the news: our beloved Even Stevens star had an unforgettable experience! On a special trip to commemorate my dear husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday, she got into a unique situation. Instead of just another round of celebratory festivities, we found ourselves in an extraordinary moment – an adventure that involved shooting clay pigeons! However, this wasn’t your typical target practice; as fate would have it, I was accidentally shot in the face during our exciting encounter with those flying discs!
A second group with us accidentally discharged their firearms inappropriately, striking me in the face. Brendan Rooney quickly responded, examined me, and rushed me to the hospital. I was hit in five spots, with one bullet coming dangerously close to hitting my right eye directly.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it like this: “In an unexpected turn of events, I encountered a tiny piece that found its way behind my eye, making surgical removal too risky for now. Thankfully, I can see clearly at the moment and medical professionals are closely observing me to ensure everything heals properly.
The actress expressed her heartfelt gratitude for being alive. She emphasized her deep love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, stating, “Life is precious, and I urge everyone to cherish their loved ones as much as possible. In a moment’s notice, life can suddenly take an unexpected turn.
Despite the internet often being less than friendly, Amy Schumer is grateful that this time it provided her with valuable insights. In an episode of Call Her Daddy from January 2025, she recalled, “The internet really went off on me after a series of interviews, and I was like, ‘Everyone, calm down.'” However, medical professionals began commenting, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome due to elevated cortisol levels or steroid injections. Amy thought, “I’m being trolled by doctors?”
Upon learning that she had been receiving steroid injections in her scars from procedures like a breast reduction and C-section, Amy connected the dots. She had developed Cushing syndrome as a result. As she explained, “I was getting these steroid injections, so it caused this condition called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known about if the internet hadn’t been so relentless.”
Now, Amy is simply relieved to know she’s okay. She shared in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter that learning she had a type of Cushing that would naturally resolve was the best possible news she could have received.
Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying incident in March 2022 during breakfast with husband Justin Bieber when she started showing symptoms similar to a stroke. She recalled, “Justin asked if I was okay, but I couldn’t respond because I wasn’t sure.” As she tried to speak, she found she couldn’t, and her face began to droop on one side.
Later at the hospital, Hailey learned that she had a minor blood clot in her brain, which was identified as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Further investigation revealed that she had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO), through which the blood clot had escaped and traveled to her brain.
Following this discovery, Hailey underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and reported feeling well afterwards.
In the same year Hailey encountered a health crisis, Justin Bieber also faced his own medical challenge. Specifically, in June 2022, the “Baby” singer disclosed he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition affecting facial nerves and causing temporary paralysis. This led to him canceling the rest of his Justice World Tour. Justin described the condition on Instagram as a virus that attacked the nerve in his ear and caused facial paralysis. At the time, he stated, “As you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move. So, there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”
He further explained that it had become progressively harder for him to eat, but eventually the paralysis subsided. Hailey shared on Good Morning America in June 2022 that Justin was doing well and feeling much better, despite the unexpected and terrifying situation. She expressed her gratitude that he was okay overall.
Initially guarding the specifics of his hospitalization in April 2023, Jamie Foxx eventually disclosed the ordeal he endured. In his 2024 Netflix special titled “What Had Happened Was…”, the Academy Award winner narrated the incident: “One day in Atlanta, I complained of a severe headache and asked for an aspirin. Before I could get one, I fainted. I can’t recall the next 20 days.”
Upon visiting a doctor who administered a cortisone injection and sent him home, his sister Deidra Dixon sensed something was wrong and took him to another hospital. There, they discovered that he had suffered a brain hemorrhage leading to a stroke.
Twenty days later, on May 4, the “Django Unchained” star regained consciousness in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He then moved to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.
Expressing his gratitude, he said, “All I can say is that I’m grateful for every prayer because I needed every one of them.
In 2019, Emilia Clarke, who is known for her role in Game of Thrones, published an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” in The New Yorker. The actress narrated a harrowing experience she had at the gym where she was struck by an excruciating headache, vomited profusely, and then realized her brain was injured.
She was rushed to the hospital for a scan, which revealed a life-threatening type of stroke called subarachnoid hemorrhage due to an arterial rupture or aneurysm. Emilia underwent immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm, describing the pain as unbearable. During her recovery, she also struggled with aphasia and was incoherent.
A week later, she learned that the growth had doubled in size and she required another surgery. The procedure failed, and the doctors informed her that her chances of survival were slim if they didn’t operate again. This time, they accessed her brain through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia is now in good health and has fully recovered.
Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expresses her gratitude towards her family after a severe stroke in January 2024. When she informed them about the stroke and sent them a picture, they immediately rushed to her aid. As she faced additional health issues, including problems with lupus and kidney failure, she ended up staying in the hospital longer than anticipated. However, Cori is now recovering well. She stated, “I’m doing great… I just had a little bit of motor skills that I had to work back on, but other than that, I was fine.
In her twenties, Shailene Woodley encountered numerous health issues that left her feeling unwell. The actress revealed on the SHE MD Podcast in September 2024 that her hearing began to deteriorate, and she struggled to walk for extended periods without needing rest. Food also caused discomfort for her stomach. She was diagnosed with a combination of conditions by different doctors, leading to confusion about her health status.
To find answers and relief, Shailene, who has a background in holistic medicine and herbalism, sought help from both conventional medical professionals and independent healers. This quest took over a decade. During this time, she also struggled with discomfort physically, which led to fear of food and mental issues such as body dysmorphia, confusion about identity, and feelings of insecurity in her own skin.
After addressing both her physical and mental health challenges, Shailene is now feeling much better. She shared that her journey ultimately resulted in a resolution of her physical symptoms, and she is currently healthy and happy.
