In other words, it’s not uncommon for game developers or storytellers to weaken characters when they become too dominant. Characters like the hero or villain in question can sometimes grow too powerful and need to be toned down to keep things engaging. Currently, this is the case with Sentry from Thunderbolts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His alter ego becomes unmanageable for the main team, so his powers are reined in, and he’s benched to prevent further chaos. Interestingly, The Boys on Prime Video might be following a similar approach before Season 5, as they too seem to be reducing the power of their characters.
One method Prime Video uses to keep the excitement for its popular superhero series ongoing is by sharing clever social media teasers hinting at upcoming plotlines. Following the Season 4 finale, the Vought International X account posted a message suggesting A-Train was being sent abroad, subtly concealing his betrayal of The Seven. It’s not just A-Train who has distanced himself from Homelander; Vought is currently attempting to justify another character’s absence from Vought Tower as well.
Celebrating Father’s Day, fellow patriots! Or in Ryan’s words, “Glad farsdag!” That’s because his cherished father recently traveled with him to Norway, as they both explore a distinguished boarding school he hopes to join next year. Check out their joyful moments TOGETHER!

Vought’s recent tweet showcases a picture of Homelander and his son, Ryan, aboard a vessel in Norway. The powerful figure from The Seven is assisting his son with the transition to a new boarding school overseas. Yet, the photo seems staged, as it appears that Homelander and Ryan have been digitally added to the image rather than physically present on the boat.
Vought is trying to manage the fallout because Ryan and Homelander have a strained relationship at the end of The Boys Season 4. Despite striving to mold his son into a hero and publicly announcing him as a future member of The Seven, Homelander can’t seem to keep his son close, pushing him towards Billy Butcher instead. Unfortunately, Butcher also fails in his attempt with Ryan, leaving the boy with no other option but to depart on his own.
In Season 4, we’re left uncertain about Ryan’s location, suggesting he might be stepping away from his superhero role. Given his actions often cause more trouble than help, as seen in the MCU with Sentry, and his desire for a normal life, it seems plausible. However, Vought’s behavior might compel him to return to the fray, considering few supers match Homelander in combat prowess. While it’s understandable if Ryan wants to leave, Vought’s actions could push him back into action.
Ryan May Be the Key to Stopping Homelander in The Boys Season 5
Ryan avoids living with Butcher because he sees him as a tool rather than an ally. Butcher harbors anger towards Homelander due to his past actions involving Becca, and is determined to bring him down at any cost. However, the stress of such a situation is too much for Ryan, leading him to flee unintentionally, resulting in Grace Mallory’s death. Inflicting harm on others negatively affects Ryan’s self-worth, but if he wants a shot at a tranquil existence, he can’t keep running away.
In the final episode of Season 4 of The Boys, Homelander seizes power over the White House and imposes martial law, allowing his superpowered allies to apprehend all those who oppose him. It’s doubtful he will cease his actions, given the gravity of the global threat we face. With such a heavy burden, Ryan must confront his father in battle. It’s unfair to expect so much from a child, but the world of The Boys doesn’t cater to fairness for anyone, and it won’t improve until Homelander is permanently removed.
