The Chosen Season 5 Gets Major Streaming Update You Won’t Want to Miss!

I’m thrilled to share that the release date for Season 5 of “The Chosen” will be announced during the show’s annual 5&2 Day livestream, happening on May 2nd. However, there’s more! During our recent Q&A live stream, showrunner and director Dallas Jenkins also disclosed some changes to the streaming platform and a timeline that fans can look forward to.

Thanks to a fresh contract with Amazon Prime Video, Season 5 of “The Chosen” will initially become available only on Prime Video for a span of 90 days. Although fans must endure a delay until May 2 for the specific release date announcement, creator Dallas Jenkins has confirmed that it is set to premiere in June of 2025.

In a similar fashion to Season 5’s cinema schedule, the episode rollout on Amazon Prime Video will be structured in the same way. This means that over the course of three weeks, the platform will release the episodes in blocks. The first week will feature Episodes 1 and 2, followed by Episodes 3 to 5 in the second week, with Episodes 6 to 8 concluding the rollout in the third and final week.

Ultimately, following a 90-day exclusivity period on Prime Video, the newest season of the show led by Jonathan Roumie can be freely streamed by all on The Chosen app.

In Season 5 of the series titled “The Chosen“, we follow the narrative encompassing Holy Week, featuring Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, his purification of the Temple, and the Last Supper. It is rumored that Season 6 will delve into the Crucifixion (with a release date set for 2027), while Season 7 promises to explore the Resurrection.

Why The Chosen Season 5‘s New Streaming Release Is Different (Yet Not?)

Unlike its earlier seasons that initially aired on the show’s own app before being distributed across services like Disney+, Hulu, Peacock, and others, Season 5 of The Chosen will be exclusively available on Prime Video.

Now that The Chosen is exclusively available on Prime Video through 5&2 Studios, and Amazon MGM Studios are collaborating with the series for future international cinema screenings of its last two seasons and any upcoming spin-offs, it seems this will be the release format audiences can anticipate for the show’s remaining episodes and related spin-offs.

Although there’s a shift happening, one constant remains: “The Chosen” continues to be available for free viewing. The good news is that viewers can still enjoy the entire Season 5, comprising all eight episodes, without incurring any subscription charges. However, they may have to wait a bit longer for its release.

Actually, as it’s been officially announced that Prime Video will start streaming in June, viewers can anticipate the release of “The Chosen” Season 5 on this platform as late as September 28, 2025.

Seasons 1-4 of The Chosen are available to stream now on the show’s free app.
