The Creep Tapes: Shudder Confirms Premiere for TV Spinoff of Mark Duplass Horror Series

As a dedicated horror enthusiast who has survived countless sleepless nights thanks to chilling flicks, I am beyond excited about Shudder’s upcoming series, The Creep Tapes! Having been captivated by Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice’s unique take on psychological horror with the original Creep and its sequel, I can hardly contain my anticipation for this six-episode Shudder Original.

Today, it was revealed that Shudder, the streaming service specializing in horror content, is set to premiere the next chapter of the found-footage horror franchise “Creep” titled “The Creep Tapes“. This series originates from the pens of writers and executive producers Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, with Duplass returning to his starring role in the six-part Shudder Original series. The storyline of “The Creep Tapes” further explores the psyche of a solitary serial killer who entices videographers into his realm under the pretense of a paid job, documenting his life. However, as the recording commences, the viewers will soon realize that the killer’s intentions are suspicious, and his peculiar behavior escalates, leading the victims to potentially lethal consequences.

“The Creep Tapes” is all set to make its grand debut on Friday, November 15, gracing screens on Shudder and AMC+. The series will kick off with a double-episode premiere, with fresh episodes arriving every Friday, available for viewing on both streaming platforms from then onwards.

Approximately 10 years ago, Patrick Brice and I shared a week at my cabin, using a small digital camera to capture our experiences, as Duplass stated. The result was an unsettling found-footage horror film that we believed would never be seen by anyone else. It’s now a dream come true – or more accurately, a nightmare – to carry on this peculiar tradition in the format of a series.

“Patrick and Mark have given us two of the most unique and exciting takes on psychological horror with Creep and Creep 2, both of which amassed a huge fan following and camp audience,” added Courtney Thomasma, EVP of streaming for AMC Networks. “We’re thrilled to be working alongside them in expanding this popular franchise with six thrilling episodes that will unfold more of this twisted story and Peachfuzz antics.”

Initially released in 2014, the original ‘Creep’ was a classic horror movie triumph, boasting a minimal budget and an intriguing premise that quickly captivated audiences, leading to a swift sequel. ‘Creep 2’ followed suit in 2017, and Brice and Duplass soon declared their intentions for a third film. However, by 2020, they confessed they were struggling to create a script that met their satisfaction.

Earlier this year, Duplass unveiled “The Creep Tapes,” an anthology series that shifts focus from one victim to another.

The Creep Tapes is manufactured by Duplass Brothers Productions and Shudder, with series lead Duplass and Patrick Brice serving as executive producers and co-writers. Brice directs all episodes, while Mel Eslyn, Jay Duplass, Chris Donlon, and Shuli Harel also take on the role of executive producers.
