As a die-hard fan of the dark and mysterious, I must say that the cast of The Crow is nothing short of exceptional! Danny Huston, with his rich acting pedigree and diverse roles, brings an enigmatic charm to the character of Vincent Roeg, a crime lord with powers beyond our comprehension. His career spans across various genres, from period dramas like Marie Antoinette to superhero films like Wonder Woman, making him a versatile actor who can easily slip into the role of a villain.
Over the years since the revival of The Crow project started in 2008, numerous actors have been associated with the lead role.
At various points, it was reported that Bradley Cooper, Luke Evans, Jack Huston, and Jason Momoa were considered for roles. Additionally, there were whispers suggesting that other well-known actors such as Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling, Mark Wahlberg, and James McAvoy were potential candidates as well.
In the end, however, it’s IT star Bill Skarsgård who takes on the lead role.
Indeed, in the 1994 movie version, I had the pleasure of watching Brandon Lee bring the title role to life. Unfortunately, fate took him away prematurely following an unfortunate incident with a prop firearm during filming.
And Skarsgård has paid tribute to Lee in the run-up to the film’s release.
Addressing the Audience, he expressed: “We didn’t plan on remaking that film; our goal was something else entirely. To me, the original movie and his performance are timeless classics that shouldn’t be altered in any way. I’m grateful we aimed to create something uniquely different instead.”
