The Crow Seeks Revenge at the Opera in Brutal New Clip

As a lifelong fan who’s seen every iteration of The Crow since its inception, I can confidently say that this new reboot is shaping up to be something truly special. The opera house fight scene is a testament to Rupert Sanders’ unique ability to blend high art and pulpy genre storytelling, reminiscent of his work on Snow White and the Huntsman and Ghost in the Shell (2017).

As a lifelong fan of Edgar Allan Poe’s dark and mysterious tales, I eagerly await the reboot of “The Crow” this summer. The new clip from the film is a brutal reminder that this isn’t your typical superhero movie – it’s a gritty, violent retelling of a classic story that will surely leave me on the edge of my seat. With its intense action and haunting atmosphere, I have no doubt that this film will transport me back to the dark alleys and eerie settings of Poe’s original works, making for a truly immersive cinematic experience.

In the upcoming movie clip of The Crow (2024), entitled “Opera House,” we find ourselves in a grand theater during an opera. The protagonist, Eric/The Crow, portrayed by Bill Skarsgård, is on a bloody rampage to reach his objective – Marian, a key figure for crime lord Vincent Roeg, played by Danny Huston. As he navigates the opulent venue, Eric’s temporary immortality allows him to withstand gunfire and stabbings as he systematically eliminates Roeg’s elite guards. Simultaneously, wealthy opera attendees are engrossed in an otherworldly performance that echoes The Crow’s story of star-crossed lovers (Eric and Shelly, played by FKA Twigs) amidst supernatural forces and death. The clip concludes with Eric advancing up the stairs towards Marian, who is seated on the balcony, only to be met by a hail of bullets from additional guards. Seemingly defeated, Eric falls to his knees, but soon rises again to continue his assault, sending a guard plummeting out of a window.

The setting exhibits a blend, much like director Rupert Sanders’ style, of sophisticated high-art and gritty genre storytelling, as showcased in his films such as Snow White and the Huntsman and Ghost in the Shell, from 2017.
