As an ardent theater enthusiast with a penchant for unraveling the complexities of human emotions and relationships through dramatic performances, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming West End adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s timeless masterpiece, The Seagull. Starring none other than the inimitable Cate Blanchett as Arkadina, this production promises to be a veritable feast for the senses and an unparalleled exploration of the human condition.
The full cast has been announced for the upcoming West End adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, starring Cate Blanchett.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be sharing the stage with the talented Australian actress, who happens to be none other than Emma Corrin! She’s garnered recognition for her exceptional portrayal of Princess Diana in season 4 of The Crown and, most recently, as Cassandra Nova alongside Deadpool and Wolverine. Quite a resume, wouldn’t you agree?
Cate Blanchett will portray the role of the declining actress Arkadina, while Corrin takes on the character of the rising star Nina.
Completing the principal ensemble are Tom Burke, known for his role in The Crown, portraying the character Trigorin, a story writer; and Kodi Smit-McPhee, who will be making his West End debut as Konstantin, the playwright son of Meryl Streep’s character – both joining the cast.
The tale centers around these four artists as they gather at a rural retreat, encountering a sequence of challenges such as heartbreak, the pursuit of recognition, and dreams left unrealized.
Additionally, the ensemble includes actors such as Priyanga Burford, Zachary Hart, Paul Higgins, Tanya Reynolds, and Jason Watkins.

When and where can I see The Seagull?
The show debuts on the 6th of March, 2025, and continues until the 5th of April, at The Barbican. Preview performances will begin as early as the 26th of February.
If you’re visiting for the first time, you’ll find The Barbican conveniently located near both Barbican and Moorgate tube stations. Barbican station is served by the Metropolitan, Liverpool, and Hammersmith and City lines, while Moorgate offers connections on the Elizabeth, Metropolitan, Liverpool, and Hammersmith and City lines as well.
How to get tickets to The Seagull
Tickets become available for the general public starting on Wednesday, 9th October at 10:00 AM, but if you’re a regular patron or member of the Barbican, you can secure priority tickets as early as October 7th.
For every show, 100 tickets will be released for just £20.
