The Division 2 Won’t Go Ahead with Season 2.0’s Planned Seasonal Characters

As a long-time fan of The Division 2, I was both excited and apprehensive when Ubisoft announced that Seasonal Characters would be introduced with the upcoming changes. On one hand, I welcomed the prospect of fresh starts and equalized progression for new and veteran players alike. But on the other hand, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of frustration at the thought of starting over from scratch after investing so much time into my character.

Five years after the release of “The Division 2,” developer Massive Entertainment is aiming to revitalize the looter shooter game by introducing major modifications to its core system. However, not all of these changes will go as planned according to Ubisoft’s recent announcement. Starting from this season, players will be returned to the base level at the beginning, enabling new and experienced players to access content evenly without concerns about overleveling or underleveling.

Many players strongly objected to the controversial change Massive Entertainment announced, leading to significant protests in the community. In response to this backlash, the developer has reconsidered its decision and announced on Twitter that they will no longer implement Seasonal Characters based on player feedback.

After carefully reviewing and discussing with our team, we’ve decided to go back and reconsider the plans for Season 2.0, focusing specifically on the Seasonal Characters. Our aim is to move forward without them. This adjustment won’t affect our previously announced Year 6 plans, but it will necessitate reassessing the required changes to the new Seasonal Experience. Once we have worked out the specifics, we will provide an update with a livestream and public test server.

The impact on upcoming content adjustments from eliminating Seasonal Characters is uncertain, but fans longing for the looter shooter to avoid this specific change can rejoice as it won’t be implemented.

As a dedicated gamer who’s been following the Tom Clancy’s The Division series since its release, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with fellow fans. The Division 2, which I’ve sunk countless hours into, is accessible on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Plus, it’s playable on the newer consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, thanks to backward compatibility. That’s not all! Next year, we can look forward to a new paid expansion for The Division 2. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s even more on the horizon: The Division 3 is currently in development! It’s an incredible time to be a fan of this immersive and action-packed game world.

A message from #TheDivision2 team.
