As a devoted gaming enthusiast, last week’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct was a whirlwind of excitement with numerous games catching my eye. However, among all the buzz, the announcement of FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods truly stood out. Maybe it’s the intriguing premise or its unique status – marking a first for the developer on Nintendo platforms.
Initially, I must admit, a hint of apprehension washed over me when Elden Ring was announced as an eight-player PvEvP title. With Elden Ring: Nightreign approaching, I couldn’t help but wonder if the developer was shifting their focus towards online experiences for the near future.
Indeed, contrary to what may be suggested, the interview with Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice revealed that director Hidetaka Miyazaki stated, “At its heart, this game is an online multiplayer title; however, our company’s focus on future projects won’t necessarily lean towards a more multiplayer-centric approach.
It’s been announced that Elden Ring for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released, and we continue to create engaging single-player games that reflect our classic approach.
The Duskbloods, while maintaining a resemblance to FromSoftware’s style, takes the team on an exciting journey into fresh territories. The game boasts more than a dozen playable characters, each with distinct skills and weapons. To some degree, players can personalize these characters as well.
Option A: You’re able to modify their backstory, designating some as rivals or allies, which could potentially yield benefits. The mobility mechanics in this game, however, are remarkably beyond human capabilities, a significant departure from the developer’s past projects.
Option B: You can customize their background story, labeling certain characters as enemies or friends (and maybe even gain perks). Moreover, the way you move around in this game is almost supernatural, a stark contrast to the developer’s earlier games.
Option C: Adjusting their life story, you can tag some as foes or allies (with possible rewards). Notably, the movement mechanics here are exceptionally beyond what humans can do, quite different from the developer’s past works.
2026 will see the arrival of “The Duskbloods” on the Nintendo Switch 2. Keep an eye out for further updates within the next few months.
