The Fantastic Four: First Steps Popcorn Bucket Revealed (But Are More Coming?)

The movie “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” joins the wave of novelty popcorn buckets, and it’s quite a hit! Its standout accessory, a replica of The Thing’s head with a removable top, was unveiled at CinemaCon and has since been all over social media. This unique bucket allows you to enjoy your popcorn straight from the top of The Thing’s skull. Ben Grimm keeps a calm expression for this marketing opportunity, and the bucket aligns well with the movie’s updated portrayal of him. However, some fans are curious if this is the only popcorn bucket they have planned for this film. Some speculate that more might be on the way — especially after some creative fan ideas gained popularity on social media in February.

Fans of Marvel can undoubtedly anticipate purchasing a whimsical popcorn bucket on July 25th, 2025, when they watch The Fantastic Four: First Steps. For some, the food-safe mold of Ben Grimm’s head might be sufficient, but others believe the studio could cater more to collectors. Given that Fantastic Four is primarily an ensemble tale about a found family, it seems fitting to include all four characters in this merchandise line.

Fans have preemptively designed popcorn buckets for the main characters, each one showcasing unique features. The bucket for Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards depicts an elongated, twisted arm in his traditional blue and white suit, featuring a hand-shaped compartment on its side. For Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, a semi-transparent container might suffice, while fans have taken creative liberties with The Human Torch/Johnny Storm’s design. Their proposal is a mock fire extinguisher case with burn marks and the Fantastic Four emblem etched on it.

Previously suggested concept for The Thing merchandise has been debunked, however, in February it was envisioned as a stone hand supporting a wide-brimmed hat brimming with popcorn. In contrast, numerous commentators across multiple platforms have proposed alternative ideas – such as a Doom mask popcorn container, a Galactus helmet popcorn container, and so forth.

At CinemaCon, there were lots of exciting previews for movies like Minions, How To Train Your Dragon, and Disney’s Stitch. Studios have been increasingly eager to showcase these “novelty buckets,” as seen with viral hits such as Dune: Part Two. However, it seems inevitable that the trend will eventually fizzle out because not all of them can be successful. It makes sense for Marvel to hedge its bets and not put all its eggs in one basket.

On July 25th, 2025, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is set to debut in cinemas. Prior to that, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will grace the screens with “Thunderbolts” starting from May 2nd.
