The Front Room: Sam and Max Eggers Reveal Why Story Is Personal To Them

As a fan of captivating narratives and compelling performances, I am eagerly anticipating the release of “The Front Room” in September. The directorial debut of Max Eggers and Sam Eggers, the talented siblings behind Robert Eggers’ acclaimed film, “The Lighthouse,” promises an intriguing cinematic experience.

“The Front Room” is set to hit theaters in September, marking the first directorial venture for brothers Max Eggers and Sam Eggers, younger siblings of Robert Eggers, renowned director of “The Lighthouse.” In this film, Brandy Norwood (“Descendants: The Rise of Red”) portrays Belinda, a young mother grappling with her challenging and ailing mother-in-law, Solange, played by Kathryn Hunter (“Poor Things”). During an interview with ComicBook, the Eggers twins shared their reasons for being attracted to this project and its original short story penned by Susan Hill. It was Max’s writing contribution on “The Lighthouse” that ignited their journey.

“Max shared that the project came to us honestly from Lucan Toh, Brya Sonderman, and Babak Anvari, who had seen ‘The Lighthouse’ and believed we would be suitable for the material. They wanted to discuss it with us, so they arranged a meeting,” Max clarified.

He went on to say, “Initially, when I saw it, I must admit I felt apprehensive about it, considering the topic, as we had only recently cared for our grandfather during his decline. However, once I started reading, I found myself thinking ‘Okay.’ I shared it with Sam, and exclaimed, ‘This is it!’ because we knew exactly how to handle this situation. It felt almost like fate, or serendipity, that it came to us at the right moment.”

Will Brandy Appear in the I Know What You Did Last Summer Reboot?

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that a reboot of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” will hit theaters in 2025. This upcoming horror film is anticipated to be a continuation of the original storyline, leaving fans eager to learn if the original cast members might make an appearance. Given that Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character Julie James and Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Ray Bronson survived both “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer,” there’s much speculation about their possible return. Additionally, there’s another familiar face from the sequel – Brandy Norwood’s Karla Wilson – who has expressed interest in reprising her role. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Norwood provided an update on her potential involvement in the reboot.

Norwood playfully mentioned some rumors, adding, “I hope… I’m unsure how she’d respond if she returned,” she noted further. “However, I believe she should return. She absolutely should return.” Norwood hinted that they have extended an invitation to her for the project, leaving us to wait and see what transpires next.

The Front Room hits theaters on September 6th.
