The Gold season 2 air date confirmed – get first look at Hugh Bonneville and co in new trailer

The acclaimed BBC series, “Gold,” is almost ready to return for its second and concluding season, and we now have the definite date for its comeback.

The news is out: All six episodes of Season 2 will start streaming on BBC iPlayer at 6 am on June 8th (that’s a Sunday), and later in the evening, at 9 pm, the first episode will be broadcast on BBC One.

The announcement coincided with the unveiling of a fresh trailer, offering a sneak peek into Hugh Bonneville‘s character, Brian Boyce, and his crew as they embark on a quest to retrieve the remaining portion of the Brink’s-Mat gold.

Simultaneously, the trailer hints at the unexpected comeback of Jack Lowden portraying Kenneth Noye, a character who was last seen serving time in prison during season 1’s conclusion.

Viewers can expect to see Lowden back in the series from episode 3 onwards.

After several court cases and convictions of individuals linked to the Brink’s-Mat gold heist, the police discovered they had only been tracking down a portion of the stolen gold. Season 2 explores various theories about the fate of the remaining gold.

With the police probe ongoing, it transforms into an intense, high-risk exploration of international money laundering and organized crime. The Brink’s-Mat Task Force embarks on a sequence of thrilling pursuits, striving tirelessly to crack one of the longest and costliest investigations ever handled by the Metropolitan Police.

Additionally, joining Bonneville and Lowden are Charlotte Spencer, Emun Elliott, Tom Cullen, Stefanie Martini, Sam Spruell, Peter Davison, Amanda Drew, Silas Carson, and James Nelson-Joyce as well.
