12 contestants are set to compete in the Bake Off tent once more, with Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood serving as judges.
Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding will once again be joining us to share updates on the tasty delights and kitchen mayhem as events unfold.
The fresh season kicks off on Tuesday, September 24th, and the dozen potential Star Bakers, who captivate our dreams, have already been unveiled.

Job: Car mechanic
Mechanic Andy, who’s had a passion for baking since his childhood, is eager to elevate his baking skills further.
As I journey through life, exploring the globe hand-in-hand with my partner Nicki in our trusty motorhome, I can’t help but feel an added purpose: to ignite the same passion for baking in my dear daughter Maisie that has fueled my own career.
He expressed, “I never thought it would come true, but here I am inside the grand, white tent.” It’s a dream come true for me to finally participate in this fantastic event.
Christiaan
Age: 33
From: The Netherlands
Job: Menswear designer
Originally from the Netherlands, Christiaan previously attended fashion school in Amsterdam. Approximately seven years back, he made a move to the United Kingdom to further his professional aspirations.
His eye for fashion has definitely inspired his baking, with every confection having a little creative flair. And when he’s not baking, he loves soaking up the atmosphere in London galleries and museums.
In my role as a baker, I’m known for being adventurous and willing to experiment with new ideas, some of which might succeed and others might not.” He added, “My experience in the fashion industry could also contribute to my abilities, particularly when it comes to design elements like style, details, colors, and more.
Sumayah
Age: 19
From: Lancashire
Job: Dentistry student
Before starting dentistry at university the following year, Sumayah chose instead to take a laid-back, tranquil gap year. In reality, however, this self-taught baker intends to utilize her free time inside the Bake Off tent, honing her baking skills.
Outside of baking, she is a keen sewer, and even makes her own clothes.
Even though my audition was a complete flop, I had this strange, unexplainable feeling that I’d make it inside the tent,” she said. “It wasn’t because I felt confident in myself, but more a gut-wrenching apprehension. I find it hard to believe I actually got in, it’s almost unreal! I missed their phone call five times, so I was the last baker they contacted.
Dylan
Age: 20
From: Buckinghamshire
Job: Retail temp
Dylan, fresh from spending a year exploring Southeast Asia, takes great delight in absorbing diverse cultures completely. Being brought up with a mother of Indian origin and a father who’s both Japanese and Belgian, his creativity is fueled by Japanese pastries and the masterpieces crafted by French pastry chefs.
In the car on our way to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday, my mom and I were driving. I was feeling joyful, but not entirely focused, as my mother seemed unusually ecstatic. It turned out that the crew in the background could hear her emotional exclamations. Only later did I realize that they were announcing my selection for the Bake Off tent.
Georgie
Age: 34
From: Carmarthenshire
Job: Paediatric nurse
Georgie, who proudly refers to herself as an expert on cannoli, credits her Italian ancestry for her love of baking. In addition, she enjoys foraging, and together with her husband and three kids, they share their Welsh farmhouse with 10 chickens, two ducks, two dogs, and a cat.
As a movie reviewer, “Growing up with diverse culinary influences has given me a rich toolkit of baking techniques. As a busy mom, I constantly strive to infuse my creations with intense flavors in minimal time.
Gill
Age: 53
From: Lancashire
Job: Senior category manager
Gill’s love of baking is innate — in fact, she can’t remember a time when she wasn’t baking. In memory of her dad, Gill used her superpower for good: raising money via her baking for an Alzheimer’s charity. In 1993, she was also the UK’s youngest driving instructor, aged 21.
As a movie enthusiast, I’d put it like this: “I was doing just fine until we reached our special spots for the first time. I found myself at the back with Mike, and in an instant, we shared a surprised, uncontrollable laughter. It was as if we were both taken aback by the sight of each other. We embraced and laughed, tears streaming down our faces for quite some time!
Hazel
Age: 71
From: Kent
Job: Former nail technician
At family events, it’s now all about Hazel and her ingenious desserts! She’s whipped up an impressive array of car-themed cakes, complete with functioning lights and remote control wheels. Not to be outdone, she even crafted a stunning birthday cake in the shape of a carousel, adorned with no less than 500 edible diamonds.
When she isn’t wowing her family with her baking, Hazel enjoys bingo.
Speaking about her experience with the cameras, Hazel shared: “I found the idea of it quite daunting, but once I started cooking, all other distractions seemed to disappear, especially for me! Over time, you do grow accustomed to them, yet they can still effortlessly capture your attention.
Illiyin
Age: 31
From: Norfolk
Job: Birth trauma specialist midwife
Illiyn, a midwife who has also penned books, enjoys blending diverse culinary traditions in her baking endeavors. This includes creating savory dishes with a Caribbean influence and confections that make use of Middle Eastern flavors such as rose and mint.
She also freelances as a midwife.
When Illyin spoke about her initial encounter with Alison and Noel, she expressed: “I felt quite star-struck upon first meeting them, as I had admired them for years. It’s possible that I acted like a gaping goldfish, with my mouth opening and closing, yet no words coming out!
Jeff
Age: 67
From: New York
Job: Former university lecturer
Originally hailing from the Bronx in New York, Jeff now resides in West Yorkshire. Growing up, he was an avid basketball player and swimmer. In 1979, he arrived in the UK. His passion for baking stems from his grandmother and Hungarian great-grandmother’s teachings.
When Jeff learned he was chosen for Bake Off, he exclaimed, “It’s hard to believe! You see, countless individuals apply. So, you find yourself doubting the reality, feeling thrilled about participating, and it’s truly humbling to know they consider your skills worthy of being inside the tent.
Mike
Age: 29
From: Wiltshire
Job: Farm manager
Mike, a fourth-generation farmer, toils on his family’s farm alongside his sister and parents. In 2024, he made it onto the shortlist for Young Farmer of the Year at the National Arable and Grassland Awards. Additionally, he served as an advocate for the National Farmers’ Union in 2022.
In his baking, he’s a big fan of incorporating freshly-grown fruit and edible flowers.
For years, friends have encouraged me to apply, and Matt and I have often discussed how amazing it would be, but it felt more like a dream or discussing hypotheticals, such as what you’d buy if you won the lottery. However, it never truly seemed like something that would actually become a reality!
Nelly
Age: 44
From: Slovakia
Job: Palliative care assistant
Currently residing in Dorset, Nelly hails from Slovakia but moved to Austria for her nursing education. It was there that she became captivated by the idea of baking, after trying a neighbor’s gingerbread recipe. From then on, her baking journey unfolded, as the saying goes.
The self-taught baker delightfully blends flavors not only from her Slovakian background, but also from her husband’s Pakistani roots.
John
Age: 37
From: West Midlands
Job: Directorate support manager
John has had quite the career journey, having had experience as both a hairdresser and estate agent. But the NHS was where he really found his groove.
John gained all his knowledge about baking from his grandmother. Outside of perfecting his culinary abilities in the kitchen, he’s also passing on his expertise to his nephews. Among his favorite treats to bake are fairy cakes, pies, and lemon tarts.
John recalled that unique experience vividly, as he’d never forget the unexpected phrase, ‘On your marks, get set…BAKE,’ which ignited an overwhelming mix of fear and excitement within him.
